Living the Dream Posted May 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Good afternoon - upon booking our January Cruise on the CP we were told that we each had 50.00 of on board credit - What does that apply towards? Anything on our account? Drinks? Spa services? Any help would be great. Shane Lexington, KY
Pam in CA Posted May 31, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Good afternoon - upon booking our January Cruise on the CP we were told that we each had 50.00 of on board credit - What does that apply towards? Anything on our account? Drinks? Spa services? The "onboard credit" is applied to your onboard account. Anything you charge or pay for while onboard is charged to the onboard account, including the auto-tipping, so what this means is that your charge will start off with a $100 credit. So, you can essentially use it for drinks, tours, onboard shopping, etc. I believe the two things that are not charged to your onboard account is gambling and future cruise sales. luv2travel2beaches Posted May 31, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2005 When I just booked our cruise and received $50 per person onboard credits it specified it could not be used for casino and tips. Everything else is allowed.
yancycruiser Posted June 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2005 All the ships I have been on have allowed the onboard credit to go toward anything including tips and drinks. Have a great cruise.
MichTraveler Posted June 1, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2005 I just got off the Sun Princess. We had $75/pp OBC and used towards tips only, plus a $3/pp change in govt fees or taxes. I've read it is not for tips, but that were had no problem using towards tips.
Toto2Kansas Posted June 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2005 Since it is just a credit that is placed on your shipboard account, I guess I can't figure out how they can specify what it can or can't be used for:confused:  We always have a larger bill for drinks and shore excursions then the onboard credit will pay for but it is nice to leave knowing that your gratuities are pretty much taken care of $$$ wise with the onboard credit we usually receive. MGilly Posted June 1, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 1, 2005 How do you get onboard credit?
cherylandtk Posted June 1, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 1, 2005 Some TA's give credit when you book with them, Princess gives it for onboard future bookings and referrals, there are different programs (such as the current Carnival stock holders $100 credit which I believe I just heard was extended thorugh mid 2006) and you can "give" it to yourself by pre-paying any amount you want.
