Loved your review Mr Fudge on the members review site.Silver wedding next year and what better gift to each other could there be than a trip on the Explorer.We are on the Shadow Tokyo to Anchorage inMay for our 2013 cruise but your report has made me want an adventure for 2014.

Donna, Any cruise can be an adventure, but the Silver Explorer in Antarctica is one marvelous trip. When people talk about a "trip of a lifetime," this is truly one.

Thank you, I can assure you if you treat the whole trip as an adventure because that is what it is, you will really enjoy the atmosphere on board.

 

Unlike other SS cruises, there is certainly more of a "family" style feel about the whole experience. Have a great trip, treat the Drake Passage with contempt it's all part of the fun. The Expedition crew and crew really make this cruise, nothing is too much trouble for them.

Enjoyed your Blog Beth. Got a quote from SS air package very expensive did you use SS for all flights? We are planning a couple of days pre cruise in BA just not sure whether to go with SS or book our own flights.

Donna, I used Frequent Flyer points for my air to BA. Our chartered flight from Ushusia back to BA post cruise was late and some people were really concerned about making their flights home. We booked an extra night in BA post cruise.

Booking done and deposit paid Silversea air and transfers included for Dec 2014 I read that you had to book well in advance! Tokyo to Anchorage on the Shadow in May to look forward to and then a long wait.

After the past two days in New York I realise how good the Silversea parkas and (borrowed) boots were (Silver Explorer Feb 2012). Wish I'd brought my Silversea parka instead of my own less flamboyant coat.
