To the poster who wanted somewhere to go in evening - El San Juan! Has very nice restaurants and casino, but mainly the architecture is great. We've stayed there several time, and absolutely love it. You can also go through the pool area and gardens to adjoining hotels/casinos.

Since there are so many people on this topic with great things to say about PR then this is where to ask my question. I will be there is March with DH and two kids, 3 and 10. We don't usually like to shop and are not just beach bums. What would people recomend as the best thing(s) to do while there? We will be there in the daytime.
Thanks for any advice.

With kids, I would tour the forts! You can walk uphill to Fort Cristobal, then walk west to El Morro. Then wind your way down through town, seeing and shopping along the way. We did this with two 8 year olds, a 10 year old, and the rest of our extended family, all 16 of us! You can get a walking map from the visitors info building, near the pier.

I love PR, and San Juan! Have stayed, and looking forward to staying again in Jan.

While in Puerto Rico I went to El Morro, El Yunque (great waterfall to go under to cool off), also the caves and I had a great time at all three. Also went to a park don't know the name so I call it the pigeon park (if you go you'll know why). I wouldn't recommend it. As far as the others go I'm sure your children will enjoy them all.

Paddy anne...Sorry I don't know about any of the tours. My fiance is from Puerto Rico and the only time I was there I flew and we drove the island. We were there a week, but I do remember we spent a whole day at El Yunque. If there for the day I would suggest El Morro and some sightseeing in San Juan. Or if I remember correctly the caves had a water park also that looked fun.
