Yes, absolutely. Tables for 2 are very common on the Gem - in all restaurants except for Teppanyaki, where everyone is seated as a group around a table that forms a big U surrounding the chef and his cooking table.

I suspect you may not be familiar with NCL Freestyle.

 

You can sit as a table for 2 in any restaurant with the exception of Teppanyaki.

And on our 9 day cruise 2 weeks ago, we went 5 times in speciality restaurant and made NO reservation.

You are so right, LOL. Cruised on celebrity before, but never Norwegian with Freestyle. Thank you for the info! Looking forward to our May cruise.....
