Time to book another cruise or 2 in between. That's always my solution to the "big" cruise. :-)

Hi Chris, I just caught your review WOW great job! I loved the pictures and the food porn lol. It was nice that celebrity gave you thumbs up. I have never been to Labadee so looking at your review it looks amazing . I can't wait till the next live review great job again:D

Cabins...

I had a junior suite on Oasis. Nice and roomy, had a shower/bathtub combo plus a larger balcony than the standard ones.

 

On Silhouette I had a balcony cabin but in Aqua Class. A nice sized cabin but with the perks such as fresh fruit, appetizers(when I ordered them) plus loved that handheld shower plus the massaging jets.

 

Slight edge to.... Silhouette

 

Dining...

The MDR on Oasis was nice. Food was very good. As far as specialty restaurants I dined at Chops Grille, Giovanni's, and Izumi. Giovanni's was excellent. One big downfall in the MDR on Oasis was the lack of enforcement on the dress code especially on formal nights. Johnny Rocket's was a very good choice for breakfast. Great coffee all around.

 

My MDR on Silhouette was Blu and the food was excellent IMHO. The duck was superb, so were the steaks. As far as specialty restaurants, I dined at Tuscan Grille, Qsine, and Lawn Club Grill. Tuscan was very good as was Qsine but too much food! Can't believe I said that. LCG was good but not worth the 40 dollar cover charge. Bistro on 5 was a great choice for lunch

Activities:

 

Oasis will blow you away with activities. It's fun all day long but without bopping you over the head with it. The comedy show was a riot, so was Love and Marriage and Quest. Oasis of Dreams is a must see in my opinion at the Aquatheater.

 

Silhouette had good activities but more subdued. The sin city comedy show was great. Liars club was funny and loved the improv comedy show(good job Nancy)

 

By the way both ships did an excellent job of keeping announcements to a minimum. But in this area,

Hi Chris,

Ron was saying you had a review that included a not so positive opinion of the Alcoves. I have to rebuff that. We had an Alcove on the Sea Day going home. April 13th. It was very hot and sunny. It was so nice to have a luxurious shaded area to relax in. We had a butler that brought us fruit, cold water and cold towels. He brought us our favorite spirits too. We lounged and listened to music on the iPod. We watched as families took pictures in the Big Chairs. We napped on and off. I gazed out on the ocean to watch ships. When we got hot, we walked to the pool for a dip, but where so happy to get away from the crowds to go back to our oasis. All the Alcoves were rented. Best $149 I spent on the cruise. I would absolutely do it again. It was my favorite day on the ship!

I am glad you had a positive experience with the alcoves. I never used them so maybe if I had my feelings would be different. I just know that the days I went by they never seemed to be occupied and I just felt it was a head scratcher that they faced inward instead of the ocean. I guess I was more frustrated that they seemed to have the lawn chained off so much when we had such great weather. By the way I have a roll call going for the 12 day southern Caribbean sailing aboard Quantum on 4/12/2015 :D

Chris, I agree 100% about the alcoves. We never saw them use donce in 12 days on our Med cruise on the Silhoutte last summer. It seems such a waste!

I started to read your review at the beginning but then we were on route to the Solstice April 8th out of Sydney - the internet was as bad as you started to say or even worse on the Solstice so now home so just caught up today on your great review. We have been on the Eclipse and now the Solstice without the Alcoves and prefer them but now after being on Silhouette and Reflection if Celebrity is going to have them figure out a way to face the ocean! You have inspired me to look at Quantum - your embark is my partner's B'day! Thanks you for all your hard work,

Embarkation was ok. We were on board around 12:30. This will come as no shock to a lot of posters... the terminal Celebrity uses leaves much to be desired
