Alesund Question

Hello all, we are sailing on VOS 6/1 Norwegian Fjord cruise, and I have been thinking about "The Path of the Trolls" tour from Alesund, but the thought of a 7 hour tour at our first port of call is a little scary. We would return from the tour by 3:30 or so, and the ship is in port until 10 PM, so I think this will leave us plenty of time to walk around Alesund. I assume most shops, museums etc. will be closing by 5 or 6 though.

 

Any thoughts about this tour, or do you think it might be better just to spend the day in Alesund? (The ship is in port from 8 Am to 10 PM) Does anyone know of any interesting things to do in town? Is the bus tour mostly just looking out of the bus window, or does it stop in nice places? And are there bathrooms on the tour busses? :) Thanks in advance for your help and advice!!

Where is the "Path of the Troll" tour taking you??? I would guess "The Troll Road???"......

IF the road is opened as it is closed during the winter you should take it.

Its a wonderful scenery with stops along the way. I presume the online tour info will tell you about the stops...??!!

Most of the buses do not have toilets.

 

Most shops are open until 6pm or 8pm. Most museums closes at 5pm-6pm.

You will have lots of time to explore Ålesund after your tour.

It is a very pretty but small town. I would be sure to climb Aksla, it is right beside the city and gives a fantastic view of the town.

Definitely take the Valley of the Trolls! It was the most amazing scenery I saw on the entire trip. Absolutely gorgeous!
