Suite perks for connecting ocean view balcony to royal family suite?

Recommended Posts

Why would that Oceanview room get the perks? you said yourself it is an Oceanview.

Because they are a group travelling in a Royal Family Suite with a connecting room. Technically the connecting room is not entitled to those perks, but since they are travelling as a family group, the concierge -may- allow them to use the lounge. It is at his/her discretion.

Last year my family of six were in the RFS and our friends and their kids were in the connecting balcony room. We put all 4 adults and 4 of the kids(you can have up to 8) in the RFS reservation and other two kids on the balcony reservation. This way the adults could use the concierge lounge and get double points, the kids also earned double points (they get the same C&A status as their parents) Because the kids were with us we were all able to take advantage of the other suite perks. It took a little more paperwork but it was well worth it.

The baby will not appreciate the gold card perks, so swap her name with one of the people the balcony cabin. That way the mother or friend (your call which one) has suite perks. Is there anybody else in your party that is unlikely by their nature to use or care about suite perks? If so, that is the secoper name I'd put on the balcony cabin booking (on paper). Now you are down to one adult without suite perks to discuss with concierge on board the ship. And extra key cards can be obtained at the guest services desk. And nobody will check to see who sleeps where...so arrange yourselves in the cabins as you see fit.

We considered putting 3 names in the connecting since there is the special going on for 99 for extra passenger in some classes, not sure that would count, but then would have 4 names in RFS and 3 names in connecting and save money, but right now RFS only bookable with 5.

We are happy in any case, just want out adults to be able to hang out together when needed, so the suggestion of putting baby's name in connecting is a good one.

To a previous poster: your kids do not 'earn' your points, they only get your level. When they turn 18, they will keep the level earned up until that point, and their points will revert to actual points earned.

To OP: I thought of switching the baby, but I figured that the concierge is just as likely to switch 2 people as 1 in these circumstances, and it might make things more complicated in terms of onboard accounts. (You can get duplicate keys onboard, but their name would remain on the onboard account for your room).
