Currency - public transit

Recommended Posts

We use Canadian currency here

If you pay at a ticket booth they may take USD at a less than favourable rate of exchange

If you pay on the bus it is usually CAD CASH only

Anyone take a bus in Canada before & if so, do I need Canadian or will they accept US?

Your question is a bit like me asking if I can use Canadian on a bus in the US. Canada is a huge country, larger than the US, and transit systems like in the US are different from place to place...maybe you could be more specific? However, in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia only Canadian may be used. In Vancouver on the SkyTrain lines many US credit cards and ATM cards can be used at the automatic ticket machines but not on buses.
