Miami-Rental Car Worth It??

VOLEYMOM

Recommended Posts

Family of 6 arriving late Thursday. Our cruise leaves on Saturday. We are deciding if we should just rent a car. We would like to go to the beach on Friday, out to dinner etc. My husband could drop us off at the port and then take car back on Saturday. Is the traffic crazy and which area of the beach is good for kids, youngest 9. I think this would save us some money since the van rental is only $81 but is it worth the hassle? We are staying at the Hampton Inn, Blue Lagoon. Any help would be appreciated.

I would skip the car. You have shopping and dining options across the street from your hotel. To get to Miami Beach you can take the hotel's free shuttle back to the MIA airport and then catch the airport flyer bus to South Beach for only $2.35 each!

To get to POM themorning of your cruise ask the hotel to call a cab for you - you should be able to fit your family and bags into a min-van cab; fare to POM should be under $30 (about $30 or just over with the tip).

Good luck! :)
