Overnight Luxor Excursion from Safaga

Planning on taking an overnite Luxor excursion from Safaga in Nov. Is it best to visit the Valley of Kings on the 1st or 2nd day? Most tour companies seem to schedule Valley of the Kings on the 2nd day. Has anyone done an overnite to Luxor but did Valley of the Kings on the 1st day? What was your experience?

Last November we did a one-day trip (ship excursion) to Luxor from Safaga. It was a LOOONG day. It's a very long drive -- about 3 hours each way, but at least the bus was comfortable. With our one day we were at the Valley of the Kings at a very hot time of day (about 12:30 to 2:00 or something), it's an uphill walk and there is virtually no shade. We'd take the overnight next time because by going the second day, I think you will be at Valley of the Kings in the morning, when it is much, much cooler. You'll also have a much more leisurely experience. It's a awesome excursion. Do it! BTW, there is an excellent gift shop *near* the dock, an easy walk, but you have to ask someone where it is as it's hard to find on your own.
