911 memorial last weekend in July

We are looking at going to the 911 Memorial and have two questions.

 

1. Can a normal backpack be taken in to the memorial? If not is there a subway station close we can store some bags at?

 

2. Should I reserve tickets or is there usually some available for walk ups ?

Can a normal backpack be taken in to the memorial? yes but read this http://www.911memorial.org/visitor-rules-and-regulations If not is there a subway station close we can store some bags at? there is no storage in any subway station period. The only place that has a storage room is pen station and that requires you have a ticket to someplace

 

2. Should I reserve tickets or is there usually some available for walk ups ?

All visitors and baggage are subject to security screening. Please limit the amount of items that you bring with you. No baggage larger than 8”x17”x19” will be permitted onto the Memorial. Bag storage is unavailable. Baggage will be scanned by x-ray machines and may be opened and checked by hand.

 

The following are prohibited:

Alcohol

Animals (except service animals)

Demonstrations of any kind

Glass bottles

Littering

Paint

Recreational wheeled vehicles

Smoking

Soliciting or leafleting

Third-party commercial activities

Weapons and explosives

There is no storing of bags in the NYC Subway system.

The most recommended place to store luggage in NYC is in midtown 36th St between 8th and 9th Ave or 46th between 5th and 6th Ave at Schwartz Travel.
