Enjoyed reading your review...was wondering is there a fee for the shuttles in Corfu and Mykonos from NCL?

DW and I were on the same cruise. Mykonos was a free shuttle to and from the new port. Don't be surprised if you get tendered tho, we were also on the Spirit the week before and we were tendered into Mykonos Town. Glad we docked at the new port, the seas were very rough.

For Corfu we used the local bus to get into town, 2 Euros pp. Direct from port into the "old city" and return from where you get dropped off back to the port. Was very easy and convenient. The area you get dropped off at is literally seconds away from the shopping district with lots of places to eat. Found the prices to be very reasonable and worth the value of the merchandise we purchased.

Hope this was of some help.

cheers...the Ump...:D

p. s. Meltingmoments, great review and excellent photos. Looks like we went to almost the same places as you did, except for Mykonos, we went to Delos Island.

Thank you for your great report from the Jade. Love the pictures! I think the Jade is one of the best run ships we've ever been on with a great crew.

It's the Goldilocks ship for me: not too big, not too small, but just right.

Wednesday.....Mykonos

This turned out to be my favourite stop of all. Not sure why....apart from it was beautiful.....I just had a good feeling about it....I definitely want to go back!

Great review! Brought back lots of happy memories from a similar cruise we did 3 years ago on the Gem:) Like you I wanted to return to Mykonos and did so a year later, taking in a trip to Delos on that visit. I could happily retire there, sitting on the harbour and people watching.

Thanks so much for your outstanding travelogue and pictures. We celebrated our 50th anniversary on the Jade and are returning for our 52nd on the October 12th sailing. We too love the Jade and are looking forward to seeing the Greek islands.

Glad you enjoyed my review! :)

I hope my DH and I are lucky enough to celebrate 50 married years onboard an NCL ship!

I'm sure you will love the Greek Islands as much as we did. Please let us know all about your trip! :) Enjoy!

umpy10 has given you the info you asked for so I won't repeat, except to agree with him when he says about the fact that you MAY be tendered at Mykonos.....it depends on how many ships are arriving that day and, I believe, which one arrives first!!

Thanks!! Do you know, I bet we could have been right next to each other at some stage on this cruise and we never knew it! :)

Did you enjoy Delos Island? We just decided beforehand that we would just get off at every port and do our own thing and it was just as well really after my fall as I wasn't completely up to par and trips MAY have been too much for me!

I agree with you about the Jade and her crew........and I love that you call her the Goldilocks ship......when I'm back at school, reading that story to the children.......I'll think of the lovely Jade! :)

Thank you so much for taking the time posting the information....anything we should not miss at these ports????

For us, it was all about relaxing so we literally just wandered the streets, stopping where ever and when ever we fancied, watching the world go by!

Katakolon surprised me the most......wear your swimsuit and take towels....we didn't and regretted it! That beach was nice!

I did not read all posts so may I ask what camera do you have? Your pics are great! I'm going to Santorini and Mykonos in October. Can't wait.

Thank you so much! :)

My camera is a very simple Nikon Coolpix S200....look through and click! I'm certainly no photographer, but I love to have memories!

I hope you love Santorini and Mykonos as much as we did! Enjoy! :)

I was thinking the same thing as I read your review lol. Delos island was amazing, thought I may have been "ruined out" after all of the sites we had been to. But that was not the case, beides, we were not going to let it "ruin" our trip .....*groan* had to say it lol.

It really was an experience, one of the best archeological sites we visited. No one lives on the island permanently, just the Archeologists are allowed to stay there. It's a very windy site and the ride there was, well, it was fun for us but a few didn't have their "sea legs" and they needed to have a conversation with the "little white bag", * wink, wink *.

The ride back was on a larger ship than the first one, but again there were many conversations going on with that funny looking paper telephone. They all must have known each other because I couldn't quite catch what language they were speaking, but the dialect sounded the same. The waves back were around 7 feet and some got to 9-10 it seemed, so it was very understandable why many felt ill.

We ate at the same restaurant when we were there with the Spirit, the owner George recognized us and was happy we came back. It was a great meal, yum!!

cheers...the Ump...:D

Good job I hadn't just had lunch when I read this post,umpy.....or I may have been having a conversation with a funny looking paper telephone!!! As it was......you owe me for some screen cleaner!! ;)

We were a little* ruined out* after last years Epic adventure and that.......combined with my fall....led us to just go with the flow....and I'm so glad we did as it made for a VERY relaxed trip! :D

What a great review, I really enjoyed it. My DW and I are doing three weeks aboard the Jade in May, and can't wait to have an experience like you describe. I lived on Crete for three years, and crewed aboard a yacht, so Mykonos and Santorini aren't new for me, but my dear wife has never been, and just loved reading your review. Efharisto para poli for posting.

Wednesday.....Mykonos

This turned out to be my favourite stop of all. Not sure why....apart from it was beautiful.....I just had a good feeling about it....I definitely want to go back!

It was an easy shuttle bus ride to Mykonos Town and once again we just wandered. Went into a beautiful church.

We walked to the windmills.

We took some more photos!!

We made our way back to the ship and I have to say here, I LOVE the way Norwegian staff welcome you back on board!! Cold drinks and wash cloths and music and smiles........no other ships we saw in any port did that!! I LOVE NCL!!

Our evening consisted of eating in Alizar.....I had the MOST delicious meze and salmon......drinks in Magnums.......the barman had our drinks ready before we even asked! ;)

We had to walk through the casino on our way to our cabin so it would have been rude not to partake a little!!

And another day was over!

As we have booked the same cruise, could you please advise about the shuttle bus into Mykonos Town. Is this provided by NCL and is there a charge? Does it also take you back later in the day?

How far out of town are the windmills?

I note from your review that you liked to have a drink or two in the various bars. Can you remember how much the drinks were?

How lovely that my review is still being read and hopefully helping people!

That's put a smile on my face! :)

The shuttle bus to Mykonos Town was provided by NCL and was free of charge. It brings you back as well, at various times during the day.

The windmills were not far at all. I had had a bad fall before our trip and was still a little unsure on my feet, but I managed quite easily.

As for drinks......we had a wine package but DH sometimes had a beer or two and looking at our receipts they were $5:95 for an Amstell and a glass of house wine was the same, whereas a glass of Wolf Blass was $8:00.

Hope that helps :)

Going in May on the Jade. Can you tell us how to get to the beach in Katakolon and if it is possible to swim and or snorkel. THANKS again for your review and pictures!

Glad to know my review is still being appreciated!

The beach at Katakolon is literally at the end of the one street that IS Katakolon. You just walk off the ship, down the street and there you are. It's most definitely possible to swim and snorkel...saw lots of people doing just that. Not us, though.........I didn't do enough research on this port! :o I had no idea there WAS a beach!

Enjoy the lovely Jade, she's a really nice ship with a great crew. :)
