We will be on the Silhouette in Sept, stopping for the day in Naples. Our tour guide has said to meet him on the "Upper Level" of the port- have heard that when on the Silhouette, you don't leave the ship from this level, and have to go back into the building and go up a level? I'm confused- anyone been recently to clarify this? Thanks

ARGH! The problem is that there are many different docking locations at Naples and the actual assignment of the ships to a pier is always subject to change. The normal dock used by the Silhouette (we have been to that port twice on that ship) is next to a 2 story terminal building. You exit the ship onto the street level, but then port security forces you to go into the terminal building where you have to go up to the 2nd floor, walk through the building (from one end to the other) and then down the steps to the street exit. To be blunt, this is the longest way around...but this is what they do (Its Italy!). But if your ship would be re-assigned to a different pier you might not even have a 2 story terminal.

There is another popular meeting place which is outdoors in front of that same main terminal. But not to fear because the professional tour guides know the port quite well. If your ship would be at a different pier you can bet your guide will be in a position to see you when you leave the ship (and would probably have a sign with your name).
