Hi we will be boarding the Preziosa in Naples for our 1st MSC cruise:D

We are staying over night, and would like to visit Capri on boarding day. What would be the latest time for us to board ( not too last minute ) and would we be able to drop bags off early say.... 8.30/9 am or will we have to leave them at the hotel and pick up before we board?

Thank you

No we can't go before as I already have plans for that day to go to Pompei.

When the ship docks in surely people will going to Capri for the day?

Iv been told that Capri can be done in half a day?

Just don't know what to do with cases. Our hotel is close to dock, but would have preferred to drop bags 1st...

Thanks

Since your hotel is near the port, I'd suggest the best and safest thing to do is leave your bags with the hotel and pick them up when you return from Capri. Since check-in probably won't start before 12.00 or 13.00, the MSC baggage check-in counters will probably not be open earlier.

Try to take an early ferry/hydrofoil to Capri to beat the crowd from the ship and also other day trippers from nearby places such as Naples (just like yourself) or Sorrento, etc... I suggest you get there before those people. It could get REALLY crowded in summer season!

When we went it was mid to late September (so around the same time as you) and the island was extremely busy with loads of day trippers - you may experience an queue to get into Blue Grotto (if you're planning to visit there), or to a cable car from Capri Town down to the main port of Capri to take your ferry back.

You'll also need to be careful that there may be a long queue to buy a ticket for your return ferry journey - unless you organise this in advance.

Thank you this is very helpful info!

Do you know if we can buy a return ticket?

I am surprised how expensive the tickets are... €19.10 each for one way.. Also can we pay by debit card or do we need to take cash?

Thanks
