Snorkeling at Ketchikan

I just did this and really enjoyed it. I booked through the cruise shop since that was the only option. It is a very unique experience and we got to see sea cucumbers and starfish up close. We saw more but don't remember specifics. The water was 58 farenheight the day we went and it was low tide. Visibility was good and depth was only 15 feet in some areas (low tide). The wet suits keep you afloat. Equipment quality was great too. Everything was very clean. And the hot chocolate at the end is surprisingly yummy!

I contacted Snorkel Alaska to try and book something independently, but they only work with the cruise ships and suggested I book that way. I really wanted to snorkel in Alaska, as it seems such a unique activity for the area! I have booked with the ship, and thought the price was reasonable.

I could not find any other companies that offered snorkelling when I was researching.

I thought it was very different. Sea stars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers. I know technically you can see it in the Caribbean but the stuff up in Alaska was heartier. And closer. Water was shallower.
