Tithonus Posted October 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Looks like only the Conquest and Elation are up for evaluation at this time.
JaniceB Posted October 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2013 I am sure there will be lots of rain and wind. Rain is one thing no one in that area needs.
winddawn Posted October 4, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Looks like only the Conquest and Elation are up for evaluation at this time. Yes with both sailing from New Orleans. The Weather Channel is also showing that states of emergency have been declared in both Mississippi and Louisiana, and that Louisiana has activated the national guard. Jim Cantore was just saying maybe 6 to 10 inches of rain in the Florida panhandle area. Let's hope for the best.

Blueboss Posted October 4, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2013 My brother in law works on an oil rig at the mouth of the river. They evacuated all but 4 crew yesterday. Brother in law is one that had to stay to get the electrical shut down and storm ready. 30 minutes ago, while waiting on his helicopter, they were watching 10 foot swells. Looking on Marintraffic dot com, the whole Mississippi River is full of vessels and most of them are anchored. The river looks to be having a traffic jam of sorts. Rowan555 Posted October 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Well we should know shortly...should be an update at 10.....hopefully only a delay in time--- not days.... If they shut the river down, it's going to be a day or so delay. My parents are supposed to set sail Sunday on the Conquest. I don't think we'll learn anything at the 10 AM update, but hopefully by this afternoon they'll decide what to do about marine traffic on the river.
