Gov't taxes????

I was looking to book a 1 day cruise from Vancouver, BC to seattle 2014....the darn taxes are almost as much as the balcony room.....$80 in taxes per person for 1 nite??? better start including free alcohol to sell out the cruise I think.lol....really taxes are abit high these days.

The cruise line doesn't set those taxes - the ports do. And the length of the cruise has nothing to do with the cost of "parking" at a port.

I feel your pain. That does seem excessive. I had to look up what we paid for our 1 nighter from SEA to YVR in 2011. Our port fees were $25pp and the gov. taxes were $32.75pp. That doesn't even compare to your costs! :eek:Big difference, huh?

Interestingly, going the other way for one night, Seattle to Vancouver in 2014 the taxes are only $55.

If it is any consolation, we did get refunded about $15.00 for the one night cruise. They don't have any trouble selling out the cruise. One big party ship or for those trying to make elite. I did it, but don't have to and never will do it again.
