I want to plan one snorkeling excursion on our Southern Caribbean cruise. Based on your experience, which port would you say was the best for snorkeling...Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Maarten or St. Thomas?

Thank you!

Skip St Thomas and go over to St John. Better beaches.quote]

Definitely St Thomas for the best off-the-beach snorkeling and Sapphire Beach on the East End of STT.

For the best off-the-boat (moored) snorkeling it's among the cays off St John. Or you can head to Maho and Francis bays for off the shore snorkeling.

Barbados also offers some excellent snorkeling with turtles off a cat as well so check that too.

Enjoy!

Im about to agree with the rest....St Thomas/St John and Barbados by far have best beachs/water. If you dont want to head to St John there are great beachs or water tours to get to good snorkling.

St John by far is paradise all around and worth the trip. Cays off the area offer great snorkel.

Barbados will have plenty of water tours and the turtles are there as well.

We are currently booking with Calabazza for 12/4 and cant wait

While St. Thomas is actually in the Eastern Caribbean, it's probably the best of those you listed ... especially if you do it from St. John.

Barbados isn't bad at all. Antigua is fine as well.

We truly love St. Maarten but don't think the snorkeling is too good there. Never liked it in St. Lucia but that can depend.

As always, it's just our opinion.

Hope you'll enjoy snorkeling wherever and make your own decision. :)
