Getaway cruise to nowhere

I posted this on the roll call, but I think it's pretty quiet so posting here in case someone can help please. Apologies if this is the wrong place.

I'm considering booking the cruise to nowhere from Southampton as a thank you present to my wonderful parents who love cruising (on RCL) and my husband will come too.

I'm just wondering what it will be like being on a short cruise to nowhere in January, and have a few questions I'm sure some of you might be able to help with....

- what is the earliest you can board? I can't find out this info from TAs without booking.

- what is the latest time you can disembark ? (Want to make most of it! Recently on costa you could hide and stay past your official disembark time!)

- will the entertainment be up and running on 1st night/ I.e.will they be showing 'legally blond' that night?

- will there be anywhere free to swim/ jacuzzi? Are all pools on NCL outdoors?

- will there be fireworks and a special show to mark the beginning of the inaugural cruise?

- will the casino be in operation on a cruise to nowhere from the UK?

Thanks in advance! I would love to be on this ship if only for 24 hours!

- what is the earliest you can board? I can't find out this info from TAs without booking. If a TA is unwilling to give you basic information, then I would strongly recommend using a different TA.

- what is the latest time you can disembark ? (Want to make most of it! Recently on costa you could hide and stay past your official disembark time!) The passengers after you cannot embark until you leave. Go back to question #1 and ask how long YOU would be willing to wait in line on the pier so a previous cruiser could "stretch" their vacation.

- will the entertainment be up and running on 1st night/ I.e.will they be showing 'legally blond' that night? Yes.

- will there be anywhere free to swim/ jacuzzi? Are all pools on NCL outdoors? Yes and yes.

- will there be fireworks and a special show to mark the beginning of the inaugural cruise? There will be fireworks for the Inaugural Cruise. They are shot off after departing Nassau. FWIW, the Inaugural isn't until Feb 8th. (First cruise after christening)

- will the casino be in operation on a cruise to nowhere from the UK? You can bet on it! (Pun intended)

Thanks for your helpful reply. Maybe I will book direct with NCL as not many TAs seem to be selling this trip as it's new.

Just for info, this is the cruise to nowhere from Southampton Jan 14th BEFORE the TA inaugural cruise.

On costa it doesn't make a difference to anyone if you stretch your stay by an hour or two as long as you vacate your room by specified time (to eat breakfast). Costa's style of cruise (people constantly getting on and off) is very different to normal cruises I understand. I thought the same might be true for this one-off cruise because a lot of passengers on the CTN will stay on for the TA. Hope that makes sense?

Cheers :)

Disembark time might be a bit later as the ship is being used for tours or something on the 15th. If you want to do the TA after the CTN you need to spend a night onshore (DW is thinking about it).

Thank you - that is helpful

I definitely can't do the TA (but would love to if funds allowed!)

This is a thank you to our parents for helping us with our wedding. We wanted to do something special with them and am hoping this cruise to nowhere will provide us with a night to remember! Obviously things can go wrong on a maiden cruise, but as long as the food, entertainment and drinks are flowing we will be happy.

Has anyone else been on this type of trip before e.g. The breakaway? Is there a good party atmosphere? Or will it be filled with TAs and press who are just there for business?

I am hoping for fireworks and a special send off from Southampton. What is it like? Can you use the (free) jacuzzis or do you have to pay for the spa?
