They seem to always show the E deck balconies as Getaways however as there are only a handful then most will be upgraded. The E deck balconies are covered and as long as you dont want to sit in sun on your balcony they will be fine.[/QU

Thanks, Kevin

Very useful as were Tom's comments on his blog.

We had a Riviera deck balcony on Ventura in Dec2010, which we only used on port days for early coffee, preferring to get out and about on the ship a.s.a.p

Hi Geecee,

At the moment, when booking getaways, it would appear they quote the lowest cabin in the type you want, inside, balcony whatever. This is the lowest you will be allocated. In some cases there are only a very few of that type of cabin on the ship. At some point near to sailing they slot in all the getaways into the available cabins. If you are lucky you get a much higher grade than the minimum. There are no upgrades. You could be slotted into a suite it would not be an upgrade, simply what you have been allocated.

there are only 2 cabins of this grade on Ventura so you would have a good chance of ending up in something higher.

the cabins are probably there as extra optional accomodation for large families occupying the suites. Or sleeping quarters for the servant

Hi DAI,

Any cabin does me, Dai but Mrs Geecee prefers outside or balcony.

We have to look for a bargain next year as we have had a wedding(overseas),

2 other holidays and changed the car, all during 2013.

We are looking to go on Ventura next December and I would like to think we can pick up a similar deal to those that are currently on offer.

Look after thissen( a poor attempt at West Yorkshire vernacular)

Doesn't have the same ring to it as "Gan Canny

Lost me entirely. So are you on that one. Least I can expect more than just me in the casino.

Ooops, I thought your favourite game was blackjack. I must stop using jargon.

1st base - immediately to the left of the dealer, play your hand and relax while everyone else plays theirs.

3rd base - immediately to the right of the dealer, you get the blame for 'spoiling the shoe' and other such nonsense. Blackjack is not a team game;)

5 card poker, 3 card poker and then blackjack. That's the order. I will go on Roulette as well. So do you use the bar in the casino on Oceana or do you drink elsewhere.

On my last cruise they spun 16 four times in a row, wish i knew about that one before it happened

Drinks all over, I start with a couple of looseners in the Y&C before dinner and later sort of stagger between Winners, Starlights and the Y&C, or maybe Magnums if i want to be posh ;)

I like a go at roulette in the afternoon of a sea day when you get cheap chips. Well 25p ones.

And as you know I do not drink, but I will come and keep you company.

We will talk, later.
