I haven't seen a thread compiling on upsells, so I wanted to start one to have one place to get the information. Information that I am thinking is pertinent is as follows:

1) Ship and length of cruise Glory 7 day

2) How many days before the cruise were you called? 17

3) number of people sailing 2

4) Cabin type you were booked in and deck Balcony Verandah

5) upsell offer cabin type and price Ocean Suite on Empress for $430 for both of us.

 

 

We did not take the upsell, because it wasn't of value to us to get a suite.

I turned it down because it appears I could get that suite online for $500. Not a good enough deal to make the change.

Booked in ocean view (6C) on main deck

Offered ocean suite for $600

 

Did not upgrade... That's a LOT of DODs and we would rather put that money towards sailing in April.

offered upgrade to Ocean Suite (midship Empress) for $500 total ($250pp)

after much consideration, declined

-$150/flat (had some price drops while in interior, even with Upsell, we still paid less for balcony than the original price of the interior)

I'd love to get a call on that Suite (Captain's I believe) Suite 9200 on the Lido deck...for super cheap..I'd jump on that! :)

And before I get comments it was over priced we mulled it over all day.....it was a once in a life time deal at a fraction of price as we did get a fabulous price, and price drops on our suite. Plus our parents were travelling in an interior across the hall.We accepted and boy was it worth it to us..2 bedroom, 2 bath and 6 of us able to enjoy the room and huge balcony, complete with extra treats delivered every day. Truly a memorable trip for both us and our kids. As a added bonus they moved our parents to an interior across the hall from the suite.

then offered I think it is called an Ocean Suite for an additional $840.00

 

It would be fantastic to sail in either cabin but I could not justify the cost of either one with only 1 sea day so I declined.

Yes, slugman, we received a call from this same number (305-599-2600) this afternoon and indeed, it was, the upsell. $400 total to upgrade from inside guarantee to an 8B balcony on Deck 6 midship. We declined.

Original email offered upgrade for $50, however when I clicked on link it told me upgrade for $30!!!! I couldnt enter in my credit card info quick enough!! ha ha

 

I have never gotten an "upsell" offer before! I usually get a balcony room, but this was a quick cruise we booked a couple of weeks ago so we went for the cheapest option. Not like I think it will work but I just sent Carnival an email asking if there was a chance that I could get a "special" offer on upgrading to a balcony without paying full price. I am doubting they will, but it doesnt hurt to ask? :D
