lissa42886 Posted January 23, 2014 #151 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Yes! I was wondering the same exact thing and my smart DH said that it is probably the backup generator or some such thing as part of the fleet wide improvements they made after the Triumph incident. thats what i was thinking.. i hope they plan to hide it eventually.. it makes the ship look like its under construction!! lovestocruise19 Posted January 23, 2014 Author #154 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Very nice start to your review...I'm only on page 3. I'm enjoying it at work ;) shhhh don't tell. What kind of room did you have?? I've never seen one with a long hallway like that It was room 2465 on the Main Deck in the aft of the ship. There aren't many rooms like that with the long hallway entrance and two windows. It is considered a 6B Ocean View. The only reason I knew it had two widows was because I saw a picture of it on a cruise room picture site. The description on Carnival's site only says "Picture window." It was a unique room, however, I don't think DH and I will be booking a room like that again, at least in the aft. There was a lot of vibration and even weird movement back there when we were docked in Cozumel.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #155 Share Posted January 24, 2014 We had room service breakfast delivered at 7:30 a.m. I wrote in my own box of 6 cinnamon rolls on the tag and it worked! :) We went to the show lounge around 8:15 a.m. and the line to get in was very long. When we got inside, we got a tender sticker for our specific tour. We waited for about a half hour before they called us. We noticed that some other tours had been cancelled (all the cave tubing ones) most likely because of the same reason our original excursion got cancelled (high water in the rivers). Carnival Sunshine outside our window!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #156 Share Posted January 24, 2014 The tender ride was about 15 minutes. We were given a bathroom break before boarding the bus. Sunshine!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #157 Share Posted January 24, 2014 The bus ride was long (at least and hour and a half), but that was probably because of the city tour portion. Two guides, Lynette and John took turns talking. DH and I could hardly understand John, but he didn't talk as much. Here are some pictures from the city tour:

lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #160 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Once there, we were given a bathroom break. There were no paper towels, only a roll of toilet paper to dry your hands. Shanice was our guide at the Altun Ha site. She gave us a lot of history. DH and I climbed the smaller ruin. At the end, we were give about 25 minutes of free time. DH and I decided not to climb the largest ruin. We each got a glass bottle of Coke and I got a magnet. This is the one DH and I climbed: This is the larger ruin:
PC Cruisin Posted January 24, 2014 #161 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I keep looking at your pictures to see if I can find me in one of them lol I think I saw you in one of the comedy shows. lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #162 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I work at a newspaper and the weekly that we put out does a feature where you take the paper on your travels and they print your photo in it. DH and I did frequent a lot of the comedy shows. Yeah! I got a sticker on one of my last cruises, but with the ice and snow, part of the sticker got scraped off. DH suggested buying the license plate holder as that will hold up in the NH winters!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #164 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Another couple asked me to take a picture of them and they were kind enough to return to favor to us.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #165 Share Posted January 24, 2014 The bus ride back was one hour and 20 minutes (shorter than the ride there). Once off, I found a bathroom quickly because I really had to go! I'm kinda glad our Xunantunich excursion was cancelled because that was supposed to be an even longer bus ride. DH bought T-shirts for his daughter and son. We then got in line for the 3 p.m. tender back to the ship. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. Carnival employees were passing out water in paper cups which I thought was nice. Once back to the ship, we dropped off our things in the room and hightailed it to Lido because we were starving. Good thing DH likes Guy's burgers and I like deli sandwiches because those were the only things open. The dessert station had been cleaned up, too, so we each got ice cream cones for dessert. lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #166 Share Posted January 24, 2014 We went back to the room where (surprise, surprise) DH took a nap. I took a quick trip to the top decks to check out the Sunshine and sailaway.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #167 Share Posted January 24, 2014 For supper, I had chicken tenders marinated in Thai spices, which ended up being very good and my favorite part of my meal, oven roasted turkey and WCMC. My WCMC was a little soupy again. DH had Cesar salad, filet mignon and apple pie. After supper, we went back to the room and hung out until the first comedy show at 9:45 p.m. The ship had new comics that night. I noticed that there wasn't much vibration that night, just a gentle swaying. I checked and we were going about 13 knots, which may have been why it wasn't vibrating. We saw one show each of the two new comics. I got a mocha chocolate getaway at the casino bar since one time I got it in the Degas lounge it was way too strong and didn't even taste like a mocha chocolate getaway. After the comedy, we got some fresh air on the upper decks. We found some chocolate chip cookies a the late night snack area near the adults only pool in the aft, which was good because we had missed the cookies at lunch. We went to bed after that. lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #169 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Will be going on this tour Feb23-Mar2 = really interested in the best excursions to pick - which ports to do beach day etc...Ps. not into shopping We usually book excursions through Carnival for peace of mind. There are a lot of options in the shore excursions part of Carnival's website under your booking. I've heard 7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman is nice. The first time we went to Grand Cayman we went horseback riding on a beach (not 7 Mile) and this cruise we actually stayed on the ship. If you are into history, definitely check out some Mayan ruins in either Cozumel or Belize. Roatan is absolutely beautiful and if you like animals, do the Pirates, Birds and Monkeys tour at Gumbalima Park. I had a lot of fun on that tour as you will soon see in my review. If you are adventurous, zip lining would be a good bet. There is also a beautiful beach on Roatan, but we didn't go to it since it was overcast and sprinkling when we got back from our tour. duegwb Posted January 24, 2014 #175 Share Posted January 24, 2014 You go all the way forward past all the rooms on Deck 7 and you will see a door leading outside. I believe there was a door on both the port and starboard sides. Awesome, thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
