Just returned from Bermuda on Horizon

I just booked the Horizon for Oct 15. Since we haven't sailed Celebrity since 2001 (Horizon), I have some questions. How many formal and informal nights are there on this 7 night cruise. I remember reading some time ago that they serve champagne while boarding. Do they do this and is this complimentary. Any other information would be appreciated.

Right when you come on board someone will be standing with a tray of glasses of white sparkling wine or orange juice. You will be offered a drink, and someone will then escort you to your cabin. There is no charge -- that's just standard Celebrity service.

That's sounds great. When we last cruised with them this wasn't done. It's been 4 years since we cruised with Celebrity and I'm looking forward to the change.

Where did you dock? How did those not on scooters get around?

When we were in Hamilton we got the 2 or 3? day bus/ferry pass and took the bus to Horseshoe Bay, bus to perfume factory and caves, ferry to the Dockyards. There's lots to see and do, on foot, in Hamilton too. Horseshoe Bay is a beautiful beach with chair/umbrella rentals, snack bar, restrooms/showers but can get crowded but much less than Jones Beach in NY or the Jersey shore. The bus/ferry system is very easy to use here.

While in St. Georges we just walked around town, had drinks/lunch in a local restaurant and took a boat excursion from the ship dock.

Hi LorettaD, AliceS, & psupa,

Hi all. First let me say that this was my 1st celebrity cruise. My favorite is Royal Caribbean but this was a working cruise for me. I have heard about the service on celebrity so could not wait to experience it.

When boarding the ship, you are greeted with a greeting and a glass of champagne. We had room 9097 in the aft(back). The ship is starting to show it's age alittle. It was sold so Oct. will be her last voyage for celebrity. Some of the chairs around deck 12 are broken and the carpet is worn in some areas but the people were great.

We arrived in St. George and immediately rented a skooter. This is not something the faint of heart should do. They drive on the wrong side of the street there and on every cruise, you see someone getting on the ship with some kind of scrape or scratch. We took the skooters to Tabacco Bay which was one of the best snorkling areas we ever did. The water is crystal clear and it was like swimming in an aquarium. Then we drove around alittle and saw the unfinshed church and did some shopping. we wanted to have some Bermudian food so we went to a restaurant near the ship. We had some fish chowder and they pure rum in it. It was great.

In Hamilton, we rented skooters agin from Wheels, Inc. down the street from where you dock. We headed for church Bay. What a beautiful beach, right out of a magazine. Then headed for the lighthouse. The view was unbelievable. On Wed. they have a street fair on front street. There were dancers and tables set up with goods to buy. The next day we went to the aquarium, the zoo & Crystal Caves. All of these were fun and interesting to see.

Bermuda is a beautiful place to see. It really doesn't matter how you get there but a cruise on the Horizon is not a bad way to do it.

Any other questions, let me know.
