Juneau car rental

We booked a cruise on HAL and will be in Juneau June 6, 2016. It looks as if renting a car and sight seeing on your own is a great way to go. I have noticed 2 car rental companies (Avis and Juneau) mentioned. Which is closer to the docks and are they easy to find walking?

Personally have not been to Juneau renting a car (yet) as researching in depth for end of July cruise there.

I have read other posts here questioning car quality of Juneau Car rental- reports of very high mileage,not in good shape (smoke smell,burns) or reliability(car not starting) I personally will pick a Large corporate Brand company this rime. I believe in supporting local businesses but cannot afford risk unreliable when need catch the ship.

I would like to learn the code for National Car Rental at AJ dock.

When and where are these, first hand, review posts? It would be far more valuable for you to link them. I haven't seen any in several years. The reviews, I see, are well maintained cars, yep with high mileage and not "new".

 

There is NO National at AJ dock. Hasn't been for years.

I have rented from Juneau Car Rental numerous times. Yes, the cars are older, but in excellent working condition - I have never had a problem with any of them. Additionally, the people are extremely nice and willing to help. The only downside I've ever found is walking to their lot, but I enjoy walking, so in some ways, the distance from other than the AJ pier is a plus for me.

I like the idea of using newer model cars rather than going with Juneau Car Rental. The deciding factor is that Avis is closer to where our ship will dock. It sounds like Juneau is the better deal and closer if your ship draws the AJ Dock. Hope you have a great time!:)
