I have been on 18 cruises and many more non-cruise trips and nobody has ever gone though my things.

All those people at the port are scanning baggage are not "authorities" in any way.

When did everyone become over-compliant and paranoid, and afraid of just about everything??

 

Please explain "over-compliant"? I've never heard of such a thing. You are either "compliant" (follow the rules as written) or "not compliant" (do not follow the rules as written). You can either use common sense and risk management (keep things in their original container) or take the possibility of some green horn security agent wanting to make a name for himself or getting one in a bad mood because he didn't get any loving from his wife that morning and he takes it out on you because he found "pills" of an unknown origin in your bags. I'd rather use common sense and leave nothing to doubt myself.

 

And if you think security has no "authority", feel free to test that theory by making a scene and see what happens. :D

Give any TSA or security person a hard time and no matter how simple the

candy; diet pills; fiber gummys; prescription medicine and one is asking for

the full 9 yard treatment.

But in reality you are not going to do that if you simply explain that what is in

that little pill box; jar that looks like jelly beans is what it is.

The TSA can call in the real police for further trouble - as for NCL Security

they are not going to make an issue about prescription medicine in a labeled

container or gummy drops in the original container - they are probably more

interested in smuggled booze or WMD contraband firearms etc.

If something catches their attention and you don't think it is justified then

politely ask for a review by the person's supervisor for a second opinion.

You could very well have a greenhorn agent who just follows the rule book

like a bible because he wants to keep his job. Use of good judgment will be

discussed with that person after making bad calls. Just don't escalate the

issue of his bad judgment leave it be - Thanks I really did not know what to

expect but now we know my candy vitamins gummys fiber tablets are good

to go. If the agent is a seasoned veteran he has most likely seen a lot of stuff

and knows what he should be looking for.

A very senior co-worker I had when I first hired on with the airlines said to

"Kill'em with Kindness and don't make waves" ! We want the customer back

flying on our airline and not the competition !

To the OP (and anyone else interested) medication, and even vitamins should ALWAYS be carried/transported in their ORIGINAL bottles, and never in a zip lock, or any other type of generic pill carrier.. Being found with any type of pill in anything other then their original bottle could create problems with authorities. This is especially true with prescribed medication.

 

I travel 40,000 air miles a year and have never had an issue. Not saying it cannot happen, just that it has not happened to me. I am on so many meds I could no longer travel with just a carry on if I were to keep all in their original containers.

When I went to Cancun one year, I got really sick due to the heat and food poisoning. My doctor told me to travel smart (not travelling when it is hot as hell), eat and drink right and when possible, bring vitamins to help keep sure I am getting enough.
