kuldalai Posted April 16, 2014 #32 Share Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) One thing is for certain that once Golden has done a season out of Melbourne , Princess will not be serving up the ageing SUN class ships again . Expect them to move onto P & O Australia in due course as the larger ships ex Princess USA are cascaded to the Australian market . Usual Princess though puts out announcement but forgets to tell the Website people to have the new itineraries up for 2015/16 in parallel with the announcement . Happens year after year, bloody hopeless and they have Presidents & Vice Presidents of Marketing for every corner of the World. One wanders what they do ? I agree, the cruise line websites are a joke. Not one cruiseline has a website that functions reasonably well all the time.

bazshirl2 Posted April 17, 2014 #36 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Apparently the news release was to TAs only presumably to give them a heads up on what Princess were doing to counter other cruise lines. Wouldn't expect a personalised announcement until the itineraries are released or their call centre will be in meltdown. Barry :)

Cruise_me_Crazy Posted April 18, 2014 #40 Share Posted April 18, 2014 :( No it doesn't. Just refers to the port of Otago's schedule as having Goldylocks in Dunedin every fortnight from Oct 15 through to April 2016. Hope that helps. & Will have Aus dollars on board! :)

kuldalai Posted April 20, 2014 #47 Share Posted April 20, 2014 The Itinerary planning people in Miami at Princess HQ are bloody hopeless in planning useful itineraries for Australia. They totally ignore the fact that the seasons are the reverse in Australia to the USA. Secondly they are as Sydney centric as Qantas . Why should Melbourne people have to fly to Sydney to join cruises just because Princess are too lazy to run those itineraries out of Melbourne ? Melbourne has over 5m people and growing faster than Sydney . e:g: When do Princess schedule the Australian circumnavigations and cruises to Queensland and Northern Australia ? In Summer when its as hot as hell and the humidity kills you up North, plus that is the Australian Cyclone season . When should those cruises be scheduled in the Australian Winter (May to September). Princess could run cruises out of Melbourne all year round . e:g: It is freezing cold in Melbourne in Winter and people from Tasmania, Melbourne and Adelaide want to get away to Queensland and the South Pacific. Do Princess cater to that market . This year they offer ex Melbourne in October one departure 12 day round trip South Pacific, barely advertised and it is nearly booked out . What would happen if Princess ran this itinerary over 5 or 6 successive departures in June, July it would be a great success . Do Princess learn, it appears not . Golden could be in Melbourne full time . Australian Summer - Round trip New Zealand, Tasmania. Australian Autumn - Australian circumnavigation 30 day round trip Hawaii . Australian Winter - Round trip South Pacific & roundtrip Northern Queensland Australian - Spring 30 day roundtrip Hawaii and Northern Queensland . I agree, I think they need to start listening to the market in Australia as well. However, Sydney (harbour) is the tourist mecca for internationals coming to Australia and as much as I like Melbourne, it cannot compete with those postcard views. :D
