Cheers Program? Carnival Cash Bar Program?

Recommended Posts

Before my question I would like to point out that I AM legal drinking age and am not asking for your opinion into my morals or character. :D

I think you said the above very well and believe you might want to share the same statement with your husband. But I understand why you wouldn't want to! 😉. I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question.

I have a friend who earns six figures but her husband has her on a budget that allows her only $20 per week for lunch money. So her friends just know that we're going to have to pay for lunch in order for her to go out for lunch. My ex was Middle Eastern and wasn't even that controlling! This kind of post makes me glad I'm free!

I agree with just discussing it before hand. If you don't have a problem with alcohol then there is no reason you should not be allowed to drink what you want, when you want and your husband should not give you grief for it.

Not that you have to answer this question, but I'm going to ask in case you're comfortable answering. Why doesn't he want you to drink? My only thoughts about why a person could get uptight about it are money, bad family history, or you're a bad drunk! HAHA.

Settle the discussion before you leave. Just be honest with him, tell him you are going to be drinking, on vacation, having fun! You want him to have fun too! Let him know in advance how you feel about being questioned and prefer not to be. He loves you and should respect that!

This is how I would handle it, too. Like you, I drink more than my H while on vacation and I would hate to be questioned or be made to feel like I was being watched (and/or judged) by my H for my alcohol intake. However, I'm just of the personality that I would lay it out to hubby ahead of time and tell him he needs to figure out a way to deal with it so he doesn't spoil the vacation for BOTH of us. ;)

The problem with setting up two accounts with separate credit cards is that the two bills are still going to be slid under one door and might end up in the hands of your H anyway.

Sadly this entire conversation is about "Control", not about money or drinking..... That's just the excuse.

I hope the OP finds a way to deal with this man, been there!

Can you not pay cash for a drink? Buy it from the bartender? I really did think you could.

Setting up the accounts on 2 seperate cards is good plan too.

My reasons for doing the same thing would be similar but different.

For those of you who feel the need to "judge" the OP, I don't think it has anything do with the amount of alcohol intake, I think the issue is the AMOUNT the drinks cost (Not that it is anyone business). I think many cruising couples have this same issue be it booze, bingo, gambling or shopping.

That being said, we have always put $250 (for a five day) to $350 (for a 7 day) on each of our four children's S&S card. The each get individual statements because it is a cash account. I think you are able to do the same thing as long as you don't tie your S&S card to a credit card. I think that a cash account could be a good idea because than you can save some of your own money (not household money) and spend it how you wish without a fight or guilt.

I hope you find a good solution and can enjoy your cruise!

Nope you cannot buy anything that I know of on the ship for cash.

The only place on the ship where you can use cash is in the casino.
