Why do you think SB Anthem cabins cost more than DO D1's

Recommended Posts

After checking out the pricing for regular SB's (not the ones that are part of the family configuration) on most of the Anthem sailings, I decided to write Adam Goldstein to ask for an explanation as to why the SB cabins are priced more than a D1 for 2 people on some sailings and $100-200. cheaper on others.

The C&A reps. thought it strange as well and had no explanation.

Why would any solo traveler pay more for a smaller cabin that only gives you one point per night of sailing when you can get a regular balcony for less and get double points?

The logic escapes me. Anyone have any ideas?

Yup, supply and demand. I often see JS priced lower than Balcony, and have even seen Balcony priced lower than Inside. They just have more of that type of cabin to fill so they can charge more. If someone books it, great, they make a lot of money. But most book better cabins and they fill the ship up. Then they'll likely drop the rates again after final payment to fill the remaining cabin. Maybe, or maybe not. You can never tell.
