Passports for short cruise

Recommended Posts

Hi all,we are doing a 4 night short cruise on the Dawn Princess Fremantle to Margaret River April 2015 with another couple. We are all from Perth, our passports are up to date but our friends aren't.With the short cruises in Australian waters are passports required if you are an Australian citizen?

Thanks in advance Sharon

Hi Sharon

A Govt. issued photo id document (such as a drivers license) will be all you need. (You can use passport if you want)

We did a short cruise in Feb., Syd - Hobart return on Carnival Spirit, and this was all that was required - although we had our granddaughter with us, so she took her passport :)

cheers

They told the passengers on the SS Minnow they didn't need passports??? :D

We did a Qld cruise ex Sydney and passports were not required, so what others have said is correct.

Sit right back, eh:p

Although passports are not required for "coastal" cruises ie not visiting another country, they can make checking in a little smoother as the passport can be scanned, whereas a drivers licence etc has to be manually verified but it is not a big deal really....just makes the check in agents job a little easier:D:D

We normally bring ours and then just lock them into the safe once onboard. You have provided this good advice in the past and we listened.:D
