Transportation to Horeshoe Bay

Hi

Does anyone have the rates for a taxi from Breakaway Naval dockyard to Horseshoe Bay beach....also the bus fares to the beach and where do you get tickets for the bus....is there a bus near the dock....thanks

 

I don't know the taxi rate.

 

But the bus fare is $4.00 each way if you buy tokens. They also have passes if you are going to multiple places on one or multiple days. Right after you get off the ship you can buy the tokens or passes for the buses and ferries.

 

I took an express bus to the beach. The bus is a short walk after you get off the ship.

If you do a google search you can get all the exact info for times and transportation passes.

Cash fare for the bus is $4.50 (exact change). If you buy transit tokens it will be $4.00 each way

With the recent 25% increase in taxi fares, figure the fare to Horseshoe Bay as being closer to $40.

We thought buses marked "Special" were for a reserved excursion and walked right past them... thank goodness someone redirected us from the #7 bus stop - we were at the beach in about 20 minutes - nice express option

Looking at the prices stated above, if you buy tickets it works out to $2.00 per ticket, but if you buy tokens its $ 4.00. Why the difference, are tickets only good for so many zones or just for buses or just for the ferry or do you have to use two tickets for a fare?

The cheaper ticket book price is just a bulk purchase discount. No different than buying a six pack of soda for far less than six times the cost of a single can of soda. Not everyone needs a six pack so they buy individual cans...not everyone needs a book of 15 tickets so they buy individual tokens.

 

By the way, this year to date the ticket books have not been available at Dockyard...people had to go to Hamilton to buy them.

So if the ticket books are not available at the dockyard you will still need a token on the bus from ths dockyard to Hamilton..correct....is this on the way to Horseshoe. Getting a bit confused but will have to print and look at the maps

No need to get confused! :-)

 

If you are only going to Horseshoe Bay and back that day- simply get 2 tokens per person. The tokens can be purchased in the building right after you get off the ship. There was a lovely lady behind the transportation desk that answered questions as we were purchasing the tokens or passes ( 1/2/3 day passes are available if you are exploring the island/ going multiple places over the course of the stay in Bermuda).

I'm not sure from your question whether you're going to Hamilton or Horseshoe Bay, but regardless you'll need a token or transportation pass to go anywhere by bus or ferry. By the way, if your intent is to go to Hamilton it's a lot faster to take the ferry than the bus.

 

As the previous poster said tokens and transportation passes are readily available at Dockyard.
