Sky616 Posted June 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2014 After our Oasis of the Seas cruise our plane doesn't depart FLL airport until 5:30. It's me, my wife and 2 kids ages 13 and 5. Hanging out at the airport is not an option, no way I would ever stay sane. Thinking of doing an excursion through the cruise line but also thought about just renting a car for the day. I know many things we could do for a few hours. Where would be the best place to pick up a rental car?
Clarea Posted June 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2014 The airport has all the major rental car agencies. There are also a few offices on 17th St that have shuttles to the cruise terminals. I believe Budget and Avis now have offices there. You could do a one-way rental with drop off at the airport.
royalcruz Posted June 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Is Boomers on your list? It's a fun place for a family to spend a few hours. It doesn't get mentioned much on CC. http://www.boomersparks.com/site/Dania/
cohnhed Posted June 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2014 We have the same issue in Miami and are doing the Hop On Hop Off through Carnival. It includes transfer to the airport.
eandj Posted June 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2014 The problem with postcruise ship excursions Is you will be back at the airport by 1:30. They really aren't ideal for flights later than 4, for using up wait time.
nhraformula00 Posted June 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2014 We got off the ship as late as possible. Took a cab to Embassy suites 17th street as if we were staying there. Left our bags with the bellman, then we spent 3-4 hours on the sun trolly . Went up and down the beach, stopped and had lunch. Went back to the hotel, got our bags, tipped the bellman, and headed to the airport. Sun-trolly is 3 dollars to ride all day.
