Charles4515 Posted November 13, 2017 #26 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Would you mind explaining how you do wifi calling on the ship please? Thank you. WiFi Calling is allowed by the major US cell carriers, ( AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon ) and also by many carriers in other countries. It also requires certain model smartphones. Each carrier has their own list of phones they allow to enable WiFi calling so you have to check their list against your own phone but iPhones and Android phones that came out in the last few years will probably be on the list. With WiFi Calling, at any hotspot, you are routed to your cell carriers cell tower over the internet. So wherever you are in the world you are on your home plan for calls, text or data. On a ship you have to purchase the ships WiFi. If your phone can do WiFi calling you enable it in the phones settings. When you are on WiFi calling your carrier indicator on the phone will indicate WiFi calling. It is best to put your phone in Airplane mode and then turn WiFi on, so you won't accidentally roam on the ships cell network. You should set this up and test it at home before going on the ship. Then on the ship when at sea just put it into airplane mode and turn WiFi on. If in addition you want to use the International Day Passes or other international roaming plans at ports take it out of Airplane Mode when on land. ( data roaming must be turned on to use data when roaming at international ports) Put it back to Airplane Mode with WiFi at Sea.
