Rare TLCOhio Posted July 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2014 From the Wall Street Journal weekend edition this morning, they have this headline: "A Percy Jackson-Inspired Family Trip to Greece" with this subhead: "The young-adult book series sent a father and daughter searching for the ancient gods—and made for a divine adventure". Among the story highlights are: "Greece is an extraordinary place to visit, perhaps never more so than now. Upgraded museums have transformed how people experience some of the world's most famous sites; fast, modern highways have put much of the country within easier reach; and prices are low. Our goal was to road-trip to as many spots related to the divinities as we could—including Athens, Delphi and Olympia—before greeting the gods en masse at Mount Olympus, Greece's highest mountain and their fabled home. We would then fly to the island of Crete to see where Zeus is said to have lived as an infant." This is an interesting, in-depth story/profile from today's Wall Street Journal. Brings back nice memories from our visit there in Athens and nearby. Lots of pictures, ideas and details. Not all can get their on-line stories, but if planning a visit there in the future, it might be worth picking up a copy, checking it at your library, etc. Full story at: http://online.wsj.com/articles/a-percy-jackson-inspired-family-trip-to-greece-1405706218?tesla=y&mg=reno64-wsj THANKS! Appreciate this follow-up from Pam. Hope all is well down Cincinnati way for you and your family. Yes, would love to hear more details and specifics for how Greece is doing after all of their struggles, etc. We would love to re-visit Greece, but right now, we have other areas of the world higher on our priority list, including Africa and SE Asia. CintiPam Posted July 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Those longer cruises and destinations will have to wait for spouse to retire in two years. Meanwhile, restricted to two weeks at a time! No problem, I am going to Paris with the Friends of European Art from the Cincinnati Art Museum in late October!:)
