Great itinerary

Recommended Posts

Oops I did it again celebrity Millenium out of Singapore in school holidays. Taking 13 year old I am familiar with Solstice but not any other celebrity ships any advice for me...thus us a great itinerary and price for a school holidays trip.

Recently returned from Hong Kong to Singapore on the Millenium. Very happy with this ship. Staff excellent, food great, itinerary varied and interesting. Particularly liked the seating around the pool area, but found it virtually deserted at night time.....perhaps demographics of older clientele onboard??? (btw we are mid fifties). The buffet area is also great, with lots more than 'usual' to choose from. Suggest you take a wander all the way around it, as they do serve more than your usual buffet things...particularly near the back of buffet area. I would have like some more upbeat music, finding too much classical, but this is just a personal thing.

Cabins were spacious. Anything you want to know, feel free to ask away.

Adding...we disembarked in Singapore. The organisation once out of the terminal, waiting for VERY few taxis, was a dismal and long experience. Saw 3 people faint in the line, with 2 carted off by ambulance. Not well organised at all, but this is not the fault of Celebrity.

Looks like a good itinerary. Some of the celebrity cruises out of Asia have some nice port stops.

The cruise I am eying up on the Millie is on the 27 September 2015. Looks like a nice little stops in Japan. Which is big on my wanna go there sooon list. Strange on can find it on the big 90 day ticker site but not on the Celebrity website. Maybe they canned it.

Thanks everyone I am liking my celebrity cruises...despite being a Princess princess. Sapphire had a similar itinerary but went to Bangkok but the drinks package and cheaper fare won the day. I did notice some Aussie sites were offering it as a fly cruise. Even with airfare it was a better deal for the school holidays than the offerings out of Sydney...more ports more interesting ports..I have been hanging out to see these Komodo dragons...and some shopping in Thailand. The 13 year old will be able to do safari park as well as water bom park...since we have two nights there.:):)

For some reason the balconies were a lot more than the ocean views so going for the cheap seats since I've noticed on celebrity the public areas never feel crowded...

So Hawaii on he horizon, this one for the long school holidays and the fantastic back to back Norway followed by a transatlantic Southampton to New York...happy little cruiser me :)

We've booked Millennium for March 1st Sue so we will be looking forward to your tips. We too are now Celebrity converts from Princess. Add in the drink package and it's a no brainer:p

Thanks Bobshsv for the buffet tips.

Millennium was my favourite ship... but not since they refurbished her when she e.g. lost her cinema and a number of public spaces, and added more cabins.

Compared to Solstice, one good thing is that you will have a clothes line in the bathroom. It doesn't have the modern bathroom lighting Solstice class does.

If you were still choosing cabins, the Concierge cabins are bigger than balconies on this class (unlike Solstice). Oceanviews are nice, with round windows.

The MDR is at the back of the ship which is nice if you get a table with a window or back view. Fixed seating is on the main level, whereas Select is upstairs.

With the loss of the cinema, they also didn't upgrade their entertainment system. While you have LCDs now, there's no movie program (unlike Princess), only one movie channel and no way to know what time things are on aside from watching another channel, and waiting for it to scroll. With only a couple of showings of a particular movie through the day, and likely clashes with other things, it wasn't something of much use.

Aside from the pool, there's a basketball court up top, and lots of open space on the upper decks.

We have economised this time with an ocean view hopefully I won't regret that...I guess we won't spend much time inside so the lack of TV choice should not be an issue. Agent said both early and late sittings are already wait listed? Strange that but we will pay hotel charge in any case so anytime dining is fine and with lots if ports it's good news that the buffet choices are good. Lack of night life is also not a problem...watch a show, donate at the casino and bed with a book...all good.

It's not uncommon for them to sell out of the fixed seatings fairly early, have seen that on a number of their cruises.

If you still have a preference for fixed dining you can try to change with the maître d' onboard - go as soon as possible if you want to do that.

I'm sure you'll have a good cruise - lots of interesting places to see!
