karoo Posted July 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Does anyone know if NCL's food has MSG in it?? I don't think so because I react to it. Stomach cramps etc and I don't have trouble with the food, but then again I never eat the Asian, Indian or rice dishes. You could ask the maître D or the head of food and beverages. They are helpful and would prepare dishes for you without MSG if requested. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
NJ Johnny Posted July 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2014 When on the Breakaway two weeks ago, I asked in Teppanyaki if the food had MSG and they checked with the chef. The only item that they served with it was the soup.
bluebelt Posted July 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Thank you!…My dad has a reaction to MSG so was just wondering if he would have any problems. It seems like he should be fine.

Bobloblaw11 Posted July 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 25, 2014 It's been proven time and time again that msg does not have adverse effects. Pure umami is flavor!

Kova15 Posted March 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2017 I hate to dig up an old thread, but I believe I get an adverse reaction from MSG. Horrible migraines for an entire day after eating it. Does anyone know if NCL still uses MSG on their food?

Does anyone know if NCL still uses MSG on their food? Their web site says your may request food without MSG and that you should let them know well in advance of your cruise of any dietary needs you might need. It suggests you contact your personal cruise consultant to help you with this concern. I will be doing so as my husband has a terrible reaction to MSG and we avoid it at all cost.
