Danube lock broken. Gabcikovo lock

We are suppose to sail on Wednesday from Nuremberg to Budapest. Hope lock will reopen soon and on time for us to board our Avalon Ship. Thank you gentlemancruiser for letting us know what is happening during your trip.

You should have been contacted be Avalon. The Impression will NOT be in Nuremberg on Wednesday. I believe the lock is still broken so the Impression is still in below Bratislava, Slovakia.

Just got an email from my friend on the AMA Certo and lock opened about an hour ago. They are in line to get through it sometime overnight.

We are on the AMACerto it is Saturday night just before midnight and we are in the lock. It is operational and we are finally on our way.

 

Tomorrow we will be sailing all day to Vienna where we will stop for refueling.

 

What happens after tomorrow is still a mystery to us. The going assumption is we will make get to some of the planned ports of call and the cruise will end somewhere short of Amsterdam. Then and we will be bused from there to Amsterdam. Hopefully they will tell us more tomorrow

Thank you for the update. Sunny day here in Vienna. I am not sure if the Impression will meet us. The AmaCerto was rafted with us in Estragom briefly. Enjoy your cruise.

Great news! Both the Avalon Expression and Avalon Impression have passed through the lock that was previously undergoing repairs (located west of Bratislava). We are very excited to report that these ships are moving and will meet passengers shortly. This also means that, against the odds, the Avalon Impression will make it in time to meet up with passengers on its next departure (The Legendary Danube WNB 0803).

flb, please keep us updated on how things turn out. We have friends that are supposed to embark the AmaCerto in Amsterdam on August 11 and we will be joining the ship on August 18 in Nuremberg.
