If you are looking for a quaint, VERY casual place (thrown away plates, etc.), great prices and not so touristy, check out Hobnobbers on Carondelet Street! You place your order at the counter and go back and pick it up. Typical breakfast items, but you can also get gumbo, etc. at breakfast. I had seafood gumbo (with actual crab legs in it) and a bloody mary just prior to heading for the port. It's a little "hole in the wall" but great food and customer service. Here's a link to their menu--They have a website but no menu: http://www.allmenus.com/la/new-orleans/40252-hobnobbers/menu/ There are also lots of reviews on TripAdviser.

Arriving in NOLA the night before cruise and wanted to get a good breakfast before getting ready to go to the ship.

Any suggestions on a good or 'must go' place for breakfast? (would like more than just a pastry or coffee shop)

Thanks

Hi calico,

There are some great suggestions in this thread . But for our money our favorite places for breakfast in the quarter; hands down: D.

So I am happy to say we are now going back to NOLA for the third time.

We absolutely love Ruby Slipper and went there for the 1st and 2nd trips. We will be going there again this time - however this time we plan on arriving a day early so I will have another chance to try something new and still get my fix for the egg cochon at Ruby's.

After reviewing all of the suggestions on this chain I think we may try Mothers

now on the hunt searching through all of the NOLA treads for great dinner suggestions - I love cruise critic!

Jimmy J's Cafe. Great breakfast. Their bacon infused Bloody Mary is amazing! http://jimmyjscafe.com

2nd vote for Jimmy J's. I had my best meal of my entire visit in NOLA there last year. The ambiance is not the greatest but the food was amazing! Unique craft beer choices, too.
