QM2 in Melbourne

When we were in Melbourne on QM2, we docked at Port Melbourne. I think Cunard did run a shuttle bus service, but we took the light rail. The end of the rail line is near the end of the pier, so it's an easy connection. Port Melbourne is a pretty seaside town, kind of art deco. We spent a little time walking around there and then went into the city.

You will dock at the Ocean Pier, Port Melbourne and there is a Tram [light rail] right at the end of the dock that will take you into the city.

A shuttle bus will probably be provided, f you have time go for a walk around the Dock area it is lovely.

Earlier this year QM2 docked at both Webb Dock (awful) and the usual Pier at St Kilda.

A free shuttle bus ran to the city all day from Webb Dock. This was the view:

The Solstice was berthed in the best port and can be seen in the distance.

Hopefully you will dock at Station Pier, Port Melbourne. The 109 tram departs from the end of the pier and takes you to the city centre. Don't forget to purchase your Myki travel card! Available at the grocery store next to the tram stop or maybe on the ship if they are sufficiently organised.

When we were there we were able to purchase our tram tickets at a booth on the pier. I think it may have been set up just for the day.

  • 5 weeks later...

In Feb this year we the QM2 docked at Port Melbourne and Cunard did provide a shuttle bus into town but we had to buy a Myki card in the terminal before boarding. We then walked a little round the city then hopped on the tram back to the about 100mt from the pier then it is that short walk.
