Is Atlantis worth a Quick Visit

We have a ship excursion scheduled in Nassau at 12:15 which last about 3 hours (we're in port from 8am to 6pm).

I am thinking about a quick trip over to Atlantis since it's our first time in Nassau. Maybe in the morning before the excursion just to walk around. I hate to be there and not go to the hotel. On the other hand we have seen big beautiful hotels before and I don't want to feel rushed that day to see everything either and hanging on the ship in the morning is very appealing too.

Is it worth a trip over or would I just be wasting my time better spent relaxing on the ship until the excursion.

They will allow you in the casino and marina - you won't be able to walk around the property without a pass.

There is a big chair there that you can take a picture in (if you slip the photographer a $5, he'll snap a pic for you on your camera and them you don't have to spend $15-25 for theirs 😊)

There's also a Nobu restaurant there like the one in Vegas.

Chair photo attached.

Now that is really a nice picture and exactly what I'm talking about-something to show that we've been there!! Thanks for sharing :)

We did that once and it was fun. We enjoy walking around the Marina yacht area and the shops.

How long will it take to get there and back, if we went in the morning? About how long to casually walk around to see the inside, marina, etc.

If the ship says it gets in at 8am what time will be off the ship? Thanks!!

I don't think we would have time to have a pass or go to the aquarium with having another excursion at 12:15pm, but the marina area and casino would be nice (although we probably will be spending enough in the casino on the ship) - I'll have to figure out if we have enough time to get over there and back in time.

Thanks :)

This was 2012. I can't truthfully gauge it because we went on a tour van that met us at the port and it was like $25 a person. They took us to Atlantis, we stayed there for about an hour. They also took us to a place to shop , Fort Fincastle and a beach. We were with them for a few hours. But I'm sure you can catch a cab there and back easily enough. I wouldn't think more than 30 minutes from the port.

Without a PAID pass at some level, you cannot just walk into Atlantis and wander around.

Security will stop you at the door.

Things were different in the past, but these days, security will not allow outside guests to wander the lobbies, take pictures or check out the views.

You can no longer access the DIGS aquarium windows or wander into the aquarium for free. (although after 7pm the DIGS is unmanned)

The ONLY things you can do without a pass is the Casino (no kids), the Shops in the Old Towers (entry thru Coral towers) , and Marina Village.

If you need a picture, you can see it from the ship. You can't miss it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Cab is $4/PP but won't leave pier or resort unless it's full. It's only a short drive but never know about traffic. The water taxi was $4/PP one-way and $6/PP round trip but it's about a 10 minute walk to the resort. I was just there 09/12/14.
