Celiac disease and dynamic dining

Hello,

I just put a deposit down on a cruise on the oasis in May. I have celiac disease and the research I did looked promising for gluten free food. Now I am reading about dynamic dining and I'm worried about being able to find gluten free food easily. Does anyone have any information on food allergies with dynamic dining ?

DD has yet to roll out so no-one can give you advice from personal experience.

I dine Gluten Free and will plan my cruise so as to give specialty restaurants a heads up that I am coming...... so far so good :D

Welcome to Cruise Critic! Sorry I hadn't seen your post count :)

Not sure which ship you are on..... ooops just read your are on Oasis......I am on her later this month and will report back.....

There's a lot on GF on these boards.... and my experience of dining GF on Freedom is in my blog in my sig below.

Wherever you dine you need to give them a heads up on board. In the Main Dining Room let your server know.... as you've told RCCL already they should already be aware. The specific items you can choose will be noted on the menu each night. At breakfast in the MDR let your server know. You can request GF pancakes, french toast, muffins (get the muffins to go for a snack later!). On sea days lunch in the MDR is wonderful.... just be sure to point out to the servers at the Tutti Salad bar that you need GF dressing on that salad.

In the buffet ask to speak to the chef who will walk you through what you can eat. The servers will not know and whilst they will try their best are not necessarily reliable.

You can get GF cupcakes at the Cupcake store (sooooo good!!) and GF pizza at Sorrentos (mnomnmomnmomn).

Drop an email to special_needs@rccl.com with your reservation number and let them know.

If you go to a specialty restaurant give them advance warning that you are coming..... Johnny Rockets will have GF buns....

Happy to answer questions.

This is NOT going to be a problem at all. RCCL has always been very sensitive to and considerate of their customers with dietary restrictions, especially Gluten Free.

Dynamic Dining - which is going to be rolled out on Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas first so it may not even be on Oasis when you cruise, but even if it is When you visit each restaurant, it clearly states that Gluten Free IS available and to ask your waiter for guidance on what to choose. See the link below which goes to the restaurant called Wonderland:

I can tell you, having been on the Oasis myself, that gluten free was definitely available. We ate in the specialty restaurants every night and it was very easy to obtain gluten free foods. The only areas where this might be a problem would be 150 Central Park - which offers a multi-course set tasting menu and the Chef's Table dinner, which is also a multi-course tasting menu. If you decide to reserve either of those, be sure to let them know in advance that you are Gluten Free so they can substitute courses for you.

Why is it harder to find the gluten-free options with dynamic dining? I'm not seeing the connection between the format or location of a restaurant, or the time your sit down and the foods that contain gluten. You've always been able to order from gluten free options, and there is no indication that this is changing.

Who said it was harder?

I've never sailed on RCL but in the research I have done the main dining room menus had the gluten free symbol, but in the sample menus for dynamic dining that symbol isn't showing so it made me nervous. If I have the right idea, the main dining room will not be any longer? I didn't realize that dynamic dining hasn't even started on any ship yet.
