hellotoyou222 Posted September 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2014 I have now been on NCL several times with free casino cruises. They are the only line I've been offered. I was wondering will other lines give free casino cruises? I also wondered, if so, can I get one by showing that I am frequently offered and have taken CAS cruises with NCL? Just kind of curious to try other cruise lines but when I'm offered so many free ones with NCL, it makes me not want to pay full fee for another line! Thanks for any input. cls711 Posted September 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2014 We cruise NCL frequently comped by CAS. We also cruise comped on other lines as well. In my experience you almost always have to pay for a cruise your 1st time on a new line. Make sure you join their players club and are rated and introduce yourself to the casino managers. If you play as much as they want then the offers should start coming in. It also seems that even if two lines are owned by the same parent company or if the casinos are run by the same company you still must establish yourself as a player on each line. This was the case for us on Celebrity/Azamara/Royal. All their casinos are run by "Blue Chip" but your play does not cross lines. And so no, it does not seem that unaffiliated cruise lines/casinos are impressed by your standing on another line. Celebrity/Blue Chip is awesome to work with, they treat players very well. :)
hellotoyou222 Posted September 13, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted September 13, 2014 thanks for the info. I'll look into the cost of celebrity. It might be worth it. compared to NCL, how does celebrity compare?
pe4all Posted September 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2014 We have taken several free casino cruises with Carnival and NCL. Some were given by land-based casinos (Foxwoods/AC) and some were "handed" to me the last night of the cruise, (CCL) and some were e-mailed/postcarded.(CCL) If it is a Premier Casino cruise on CCL, they give priority boarding, welcome aboard party, free drink card, a nice amount of casino cash, raffles, free tournys, goodies in room (snacks/souvenier), etc. If it was just a "free" CCL casino cruise, we are given some cash, and a free drink card. Definitely the Premier cruises give more - but you have to cruise at least 1x on CCL to get those offers.

garycarla Posted September 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2014 How much are you guys spending on avg for these free cruises may I ask ? Easily more than the cost of the cruise in most cases. They do not do this because they like people.
PokerDave Posted September 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2014 "Free" is definitely a relative term. There is a sweet spot between the cost of the cruise and what you would have gambled on another "non-free" cruise that I shoot for on average. I had sailed on 4 other lines before NCL and gambled on each. Received nothing like the comps I got on NCL. Boarding my sixth straight NCL cruise since 2007 today so other lines may have changed since my experience. Comped an OV and upgraded to a balcony. Beware there is a slow steady decline in comps across the entire industry and NCL isn't immune, especially since Caesars (formerly Harrahs) took over the reins... I am Golden with NCL and from the time I booked my cruise a year ago until very recently Golden got you several perks that have been summarily discontinued with no notice.:mad: I had expected to get breakfast/lunch in Cagney's on this cruise and other VIP treatment and had worked my way to Golden specifically for this. Had cruised in suites the previous couple of cruises and likely would have paid for upgrading to a suite this time had I known about the impending change. Too late now. I can deal with a steadily declining comp curve, but random stupidity from Casinos at Sea has been the norm for the past 2 years since they (badly) rolled out their tiered players card system. This will likely be my last go round...
