margaret10987 Posted September 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2014 We will be in Aruba mid-April and the majority wants to go to Palm Beach. We are doing the day pass at the Occidental Grand. I am afraid I will be disappointed because I really want to go to Eagle Beach. Will I be disappointed in Palm Beach or is it as beautiful as Eagle? Arubalisa Posted September 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2014 They are different. Water on Palm Beach is calm most all of the time, Eagle Beach can have waves. There is more activity on Palm Beach and more people than Eagle Beach but it is just different, doesn't necessarily make it "bad". I loved Aruba my first 12 visits and had only stayed on Palm Beach. It was only after that we we began staying at resorts on other beaches on the island. As long as you know what to expect you should be just fine. 6rugrats Posted September 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) In all the other discussions you have about this issue, you state your husband needs to have shade, so I am not sure you have a choice. I don't know anything about the day pass. Do they actually guarantee you will have shade? Edited September 15, 2014 by 6rugrats
cb at sea Posted September 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2014 There are umbrella rentals all over all the beaches...you can rent an umbrella...which I recommend...the Aruba sun is STRONG!!!!

Hatteras51 Posted September 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2014 There are not umbrella rentals all over Eagle Beach. 6rugrats is correct. There are only a few areas on Eagle Beach that rent umbrellas or palapas. Palm Beach has many more available.
Arubalisa Posted September 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2014 As others have said, if you MUST have shade you will have a difficult time finding it on Eagle Beach. At the Occidental, hotel guests will be out at dawn if not before trying to reserve their shade palapas so no guarantee of shade there even with a day pass. For shade your best bet is to rent an umbrella from one of the vendors on Palm Beach.
