kjg46 Posted September 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Can someone who has taken the Princess transfer from Southampton to Heathrow AP tell me at which airport terminal you are dropped off to collect your luggage? Thanks
ChuckinSC Posted September 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I'm not sure about your question. Our luggage was on the bus with us and the bus stopped at different terminal entrances depending on the airline being used. Hope that helps. We we used the Princess transfer in Venice our luggage was sent ahead of us to the airport. Our Alaska cruise, Princess handled the luggage the same way. It (the luggage) was delivered to the airport by a separate truck. Seeing your post and others, it appears the Heathrow transfer is handled differently. Thanks for your information. MetmanOne Posted September 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2014 If you have an evening flight or a flight the following day I would recommend using International Friends for the transfer. You are picked up at the dock and have a full day tour back to Heathrow. You will have stops at Stonehenge. Salisbury and Windsor. You will get dropped of either at our hotel in London or your terminal at Heathrow. You get to the airport about 5:00 PM. It is a great way to see some of Southern England instead of taking the expressway directly to Heathrow.
bcnvcanada Posted September 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2014 We did this in July, we were dropped at termial #3 as most Americans go out of this termial. We had to get to termial 5, which was okay. Walkway use a trolley, lift down, train Heatrow express-no pay no trolley, get another trolley, lift up, walkway, termial, lift up to check in. Also at least 30 minutes or longer to do. An hour would be better. It really isn't that bad. We asked at psd if they ( princess) ever stopped at termial 5 and were told only if a full bus load is going to the termial. Go to Heatrow site and follow the directions on the site for directions how to do.

You need to know your specific Heathrow departure Terminal before you even board the ship. On our recent Ruby Princess cruise, we were assigned a disembarkation group according to the time and specific Terminal (T4 in our case) for our flight. As others have said, the luggage went with us on the bus, and the bus went directly to T4. The entire process went perfectly smoothly, and we were at the terminal well in advance of our 1:00 PM flight time.
Putterdude Posted September 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Our experience has been that there are enough coaches that they go to a specific terminal. T-3 is the international terminal but if flying internationally on British Airlines they use T-5. The travel time between Southampton and LHR is about 1.5 hrs +/_ depending on traffic on the motorways so plan to be at LHR before 1100. I mention this only because many airlines will not accept luggage until 3 hrs before the flight but there are some very interesting duty free shops to visit. MaChere Posted September 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Can someone who has taken the Princess transfer from Southampton to Heathrow AP tell me at which airport terminal you are dropped off to collect your luggage? Thanks Our luggage was on the dock that morning; we retrieved it and put it on the bus with us. We could as easily have kept it with us all night. We flew United and were dropped at the Queen's Terminal. That's terminal 5, right? Our flight was at 1:35 pm, and we were in one of the earliest groups to disembark the Ruby, at 6:40 am. Yikes. But we did it, got to the airport in plenty of time to check in, have a leisurely breakfast, and shop a bit more for grandkids. Lol. Oh, and this is an important tidbit. Since we were coming from a cruise ship and there was a possibility that others had handled our bags, we were pulled aside at the gate to have our carryon bags looked through again. Don't know if that's just a United thing or if standard procedure.
