Entertainment on splendor

We were on the Splendor last week and would say the entertainment was just ok. We didn't go to any of the show lounge shows either for lack of interest or because they were cancelled. We did see the Love and Marriage show which is now a featured show at night instead of an afternoon activity like it used to be. Splendor has Dive in Movies on the big screen on the lido which is nice and we did see the comedy shows. Two out of the four comedians were funny, one of the two was hilarious. One comedian was so not funny I have no idea how he got the gig. Also the singers around the ship performing live in the atrium and outside the casino went from passable to poor. One woman was just awful, lots of screeching and getting in peoples faces with the mic and dancing with them whether they wanted to or not. Daytime has trivia, name that tune, hairy chest contest, bean bag throw, stuff like that.

Hi fellow boardmates :)

I'm trying to help the OP with their post here. Probably could

use some help though. I haven't sailed on the Splendor in a year.

The ship did not have a dry dock yet. And no dry dock is scheduled

as of right now.

Is it possible the Splendor received playlist productions without a

dry dock? Beause when I was on the ship the main entertainment was:

Vroom

The Beat

Fiesta Latina

All 3 shows with a full orchestra.

So, in effort to assist the OP, has anyone recently sailed aboard the

Splendor? Are the shows still Vroom, The Beat & Fiesta Latina?

:)

Splendor has a full band and a female singer that is really good. Her name is Tye. They also have a really good Asian band (can't remember the name). The male and female lead in the production shows were OK.

bumping this up, I will be on the Splendor in March and would like to know this also. I just got off of a NCL cruise and the entertainers are just horrible!

Hi im still checking out entertainment as I had originally posted. We are on over Christmas .So I hope they bump it up.

But to answer your question did you go on Carnival's entertainment site as they have some concerts schedule and there is one booked on Splendor for March. If that is your sailing now is the time to book your tickets ..they have some great entertainment booked for Carnival but it is hit and miss. Fingers crossed I hope it is yours.i noticed some other sailings on other ships in 2015 sold out concerts.

And that is the same for NCL they have great entertainment but it depends your sailing.

It is a shame they should bump up there entertainment allround. Especially on hoildays and long cruises.

I just got off the Splendor this morning. Their entertainment was amazing! Because it was a repositioning cruise from San Juan, there was no welcome aboard show. Late muster drill followed by sailaway deck party, then straight to bed.

The first big production show with the singers & dancers was Fiesta Latina. Plenty of latin music, and it was very entertaining. The 2nd one was "The Beat", 2 nights later. It had the showband on stage, which brought the dancers all the way to the edge of the stage, like on their older ships. I definitely prefer that setup. The 3rd one was "Vroom". All 3 were very good. If you enjoy these types of shows that Carnival has had for awhile now, you will definitely enjoy all 3 of these. Some people say that they have Vroom memorized, including all the dance moves. But this was my 15th cruise, and the first time I've seen it, and I really enjoyed it. These shows are so much better than any Playlist Productions show. The live band makes such a huge difference. Having 15 performers on stage instead of half that makes such a huge difference. The shows being an hour long instead of 30 minutes and using real props makes such a huge difference. Maybe it doesn't measure up to what Broadway does, but for a cruise show on a budget cruiseline, they are excellent and very entertaining!

I got to give so much credit to the cast on this ship. The male lead singer came ill between showings of Vroom. For his safety, they had to cancel the 8:45 show. Late diners had already seen the show, and early diners didn't see it. I talked to a couple of the dancers at the martini bar a couple hours later, and they were genuinely sorry to have to cancel. They really wanted to still do the show, but there was just no way to do it without him. Then, the next day, an announcement came on that he was doing much better, and that they would put the show on at 5:00. So we ended up getting to see the show after all. That was so awesome of them, because they truly didn't have to do it. But the male lead singer, Darren Dos Santos Jefferies, fought hard to recover to be able to do this show as well as the Legends show. Plenty of us went up to thank him in the reception after the Legends show.

Other than the production shows, we had 2 fly-on entertainers, which of course could and will be different from week to week. For us, we had a hypnotist one night, Asad Mecci. That was very entertaining, and drew huge crowds for both shows. Plus, as a very nice surprise to us, we had Consuela Ivy come on board to sing some motown & soul, accompanied by live music of course. We saw her on the Magic in 2012 as the showband's singer, then again on the Breeze in 2013, singing in the oceans plaza with a band. The Breeze doesn't have a showband (no live music), so she had to be placed in the oceans plaza. It looks like she's been promoted to a fly-on headline act, and she is very deserving of it. She was spectacular as always! Plus we had one dead night. No show, as is required on Carnival these days. Don't know why, but that's how it is. They did the love & marriage game. But overall, excellent shows in the theater.

Other than the theater, there was so much great entertainment going on. It truly was the polar opposite of the Breeze, and I would say that in this regard, it was even better than my favorite ship, the Dream. There were bands & soloists/duos everywhere all the time. Even when one would have a night off, they didn't miss a beat. The deck 4 club with the latin band drew good crowds, they put on a motown show there one night. The atrium music, which changed, always sounded great. Music Asia sounded good, although I never stopped to take it in. My favorite was Russell Blues in the piano bar. I enjoy a good piano bar, and I thought he was excellent. There was a close-up magician, Barman, that put on 2 short shows in a smaller room late at night. I went to one of them, and it was good. There were 3 late night deck parties with dancing, including the sailaway one. All were pretty short. I think I like the longer ones better, but it is nice to have more of them now. I think that a normal cruise will probably go back to 2 deck parties.

I agree with your assessment of the comedians 100 percent. That one unfunny comedian I felt sorry for but more sorry for myself sitting there listening to him.
