Oosterdam question

I know on the Westerdam (same class of ship) there is a forward observation deck that you can go out on decks 5, 6, and 7. I am not sure if you can go all the way forward on deck 9 (deck 8 is the bridge so no forward access) and then there is the forward observation deck on deck 11. Sometimes, they will open the bow on your glacier cruising day (or they did last time I was in Alaska - that was I believe 2009 though) which is pretty awesome but if you don't get there early it is crowded.

When we are able to, we like to go out on the deck in front of the gym.

I thought that area was open - just didn't want to give the OP wrong info! Glad to hear it's still avaliable. I feel like I read on one thread where the small forward decks were closed at one point although I could be wrong.

Most cruises we weren't allowed in front on 5, 6 or 7. We ended up in front of the gym on 9. WE were told on Oosterdam that security prevented access to the outside forward areas. The bow should be open in Glacier Bay or at glaciers. Directions to the bow will be put out that morning.

Right -- most of the forward areas of the ship are only open for Glaciers and Panama Canal cruises.
