Connecticutcruiser Posted October 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Friends: We have some friends who are thinking of joining us on a Singapore to Hong Kong cruise. But one of them gets motion sickness pretty easily. Are the sea conditions on this trip any more bouncy than going around Cape Horn for example? Thanks for any thoughts. Ashland Posted October 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2014 When are you sailing ? We are doing the Singapore-Shanghai in March and would also love to hear the experience of other's....not that we are prone to seasickness...just curious. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Even sailing around Cape Horn is not the same between voyages as I've sailed that several times and it can vary from actually being calm to being rough. I've sailed between Hong Kong and Singapore many times too. The odds are that it will be calmer but when you are at sea you never know. I would recommend getting a room mid ship and also bringing medication to prevent nausea but hopefully it will not be rough and overall that has been my experience. suekay Posted October 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2014 We sailed Shanghai to Singapore and Singapore to Hong Kong, both late March/early April. Never felt any motion ( and I'm prone to seasickness)
kuldalai Posted November 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Only time things can get a bit choppy is in the South China Sea in the Typhoon season which I think is 3 months up to November . Even then typhoons are usually slow moving and the cruise boats can generally plan to avoid them . Best to allow a couple of days before you join your cruise in the port of embarkation and also after your disembarkation especially in case the ship is delayed . Rare Keith1010 Posted November 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Again, when you cruise you never know and often no two voyages are the same. Keith

peaofsweetness Posted November 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2014 We have been there for the past three weeks and the sea was like a mill pond.
