Celebrity Silhouette vs RC Freedom of the Seas for Christmas EC cruise

I like both cruise lines but Celebrity wins out for us for several reasons.

Better food across the board. Only one announcement per day. With RCI you will hear announcements for the art auctions, inch of gold, bingo, hairy chest contest and the list goes on. More restricted smoking policy on Celebrity. No smoking inside the ship at all. Not so on RCI. They still allow smoking in the casino

Freedom has the ice show but other than the Oasis class Celebrity's S class ship provides just as good entertainment as the Freedom which I have cruised on twice.

Service is about the same. Good on both lines. During the Christmas holiday your kids will find plenty of kids their age on Celebrity so I doubt they will be bored.

Hard decision but I'm a Celebrity convert after many cruises on RCI.

You will all enjoy either cruise. Have a ball!

My husband & I have a Silhouette cruise for Christmas 2015. We have a balcony cabin, midship on Deck 7. We wonder if there is anything special they do for Christmas. Are planning to do specialty dining at least two nights, and wonder when we should do it. Would we miss something special in the MDR on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Would just like some feedback as to how (or if) they celebrate Christmas on Celebrity Silhouette. Thanks!

I think what may sway you final decision could be the best accommodation. Freedom has some Royal Family Suites which may be ideal for you. You will be suite guests and have the perks of conceirge club....you will have shared family space with bed settee plus two bedrooms. We cruise suites on Celebrity and I am fairly sure there is not one with this flexibility.

Although now our family are adults we choose celebrity we enjoyed many RCCL cruises. I am sure we will cruise RCCL again.

I really suggest you practically and financially price out both cruise lines and look at the pros and cons. Look at a wide range of suite and stateroom accommodations and see what makes the best overall sense.
