June 2015 question

We are going to book a family cruise for June after New Year's when everyone gets their vacation week nailed down. We live in KY, so we can consider Charleston, Jax, Port Canaveral, Tampa, and NOLA for sailings. Any ideas about which of those ports will likely end up with the best prices for a 5 day cruise? We have always sailed in May or September, but this time we have a teacher and a high school senior in the mix.

In my research it seems that Charleston has the higher priced cruises. I'm sure this is due to it being a Carnival only port, and closest for the mid-southern states. Port Canaveral and Tampa seem to have the lowest prices (after Miami of course), and that's probably because other lines are available.

Hope this helps

Edited to add something you probably already know... June is peak cruising season so be prepared for much higher prices.

You can actually do a search on Carnival.com & specify a 2-5 day cruise, the ports you can sail from, & sort in order of lowest price first.

Today the 3 least expensive prices for a 5 day Bahamas cruise for 2 are:

  1. Jacksonville FL, Fasination, Jun 1 $479pp
  2. Charleston SC, Fantasy, Jun 8 $509pp
  3. Jacksonville FL, Fascination, Jun 6 or 20 $509pp

I'd definitely consider the latter one since it spends a day at Half Moon Cay instead of Freeport!

For a 5 day Western Caribbean cruise for 2:

  1. New Orleans LA, Elation, all of Jun $539pp
  2. Tampa FL, Paradise, all of Jun $559-569pp

Wishing you the best in getting it all pulled together!

Thank you guys so much! Yeah, June prices are giving me heartburn, but that's the only month that will work for us. After that, it's back to my bargain basement deals :D

When you tally up all the figures, that's still a bargain vacation! :) Enjoy!
