Wonderful Copenhagen 2015 edition

Recommended Posts

Hi DanishViking- we had a quick question- do you know if we can still take Bus #26 from Kongens Nytorv to the Oceankaj cruise terminal on Monday, May 11th (about 11 AM), or will Bus #27 or another route be the way to go then?

Thank You!

Bus 26 towards Søndre Frihavn, then change to the 27 bus at Østerport station, Sløjfen.

Its important that you don´t get off the bus at the first Østerport bus stop, it has to be the Østerport station, Sløjfen bus stop.

Look here and you can see what I mean.

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/%C3%98sterport+St./%C3%98sterport+St.,+Sl%C3%B8jfen,+K%C3%B8benhavn/@55.6927163,12.5879091,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x465252e1d3e04073:0x8224c989afea3609!2m2!1d12.588891!2d55.691882!1m5!1m1!1s0x465252e0509b6503:0x67f1b40f512f1420!2m2!1d12.591225!2d55.693549!3e2

The trip takes 27 minutes. The bus goes at 11:09 and arrives at 11:20 at Østerport station, Sløjfen, the 27 bus goes at 11:22 and arrives at Oceankaj at 11:36.

Remember that The Oceankaj bus stop (The old UNICEF bus stop) is located outside Terminal 1 so if your ship is located at terminal 2 or 3 its better to take the cruise shuttle that stops outside the terminals.

We will be in Copenhagen on a cruise in June, our ship overnights there. On Day 1 we have a tour to Northern Zealand and should be back around 3pm, our ship sails at 3pm on Day 2.

Am debating whether to get a 24 hour Copenhagen card, we plan on doing a canal cruise and will probably spend a few hours at Tivoli on the evening of Day 1. We still don't have any specific plans for Day 2, maybe Dragor in the morning? I know some people were planning on taking the train to Malmo but that might be cutting it rather fine don't you think?

So do you think it makes sense to get the 24 hour Copenhagen card or do we just pay as we go? BTW, our tour on Day 1 includes entrance to Kronberg castle, so the CC won't help there.

Your opinions and suggestions please, thanks:)

Biiiiiiiiiig news :)

A new bus 27 Between Østerport station, Sløjfen and Oceankaj (UNICEF, Færgehavn Nord busstop) will be in service from 26th of april.

http://www.moviatrafik.dk/Timetable%20Resources/27-0027-260415.pdf

Mandag fredag means Monday Friday

Lørdag means Saturday

Søn og Helligdage means Sun (day) and holidays.

The holidays are

1st of May Store Bededag - Great Prayer Day

16th of May Ktisti Himmelfartsdag - Ascension Day

24th of May Første Pinsedag - Whit Sunday

25th of May Anden Pinsedag - Whit Monday

5th of June Grundlovsdag - Constitution Day

So now there are busses to Oceankaj in the weekends and public holidays.

For now it seems like bus 26 will continue to Oceankaj in the on Mondays to Fridays and the info about the cruise shuttle is not removed yet so I think this service will still be in effect on the busy cruise days.

Reposting for those who didn't see this before, Thanks DanishViking

I don´t think a Copenhagen Card will be very useful for your trips.

You can buy the Citypass that will give you transportation in 24 hours and it includes transportation to Dragør.

The card costs 80 kroner, if your bus drops you off at the ship you have to walk to Østerport and buy it there.

Thanks Danish Viking, that's what I also figured. We'll probably get off at Nyhavn after our Zealand tour, we want to do a canal cruise and walk around that area a bit before heading out to Tivoli. I suppose the Citypass should be available in Nyhavn, isn't it?

What do you think about our going to Malmo the next morning, leave around 9am to return by 1.30-2pm? Or are we better off just going to Dragor? Thanks for all your help:)

You will be able to buy the city pass in the ticket machines at Kongens Nytorv or else you visit dinoffentligetransport.dk where you can buy it on your phone.

It takes almost the same time to travel to Malmö and Dragør because you have to change to a bus at Tårnby station to visit Dragør.

Its roughly 40 minutes from Østterport to Malmö and the train departs every 20th minute (10 in the rush hour) so you have to decide for yourself if you want to go there.

I think Malmö is a wonderful city and the Øresund bridge its a engineering marvel so I think its worth a trip.

A tip to save time is to start at the Malmö C station and walk along the pedestrian street to the other end where you can catch the same train back from Triangeln station.

Thanks for bus info. Are cabs very expensive? There are 5 of us going from Marriott to Oceankaj- what would you recommend? Thinking the hotel could call a larger cab for us.

Also, do any of the canal tours take reservations? We hoped to do the tour May 30 before boarding. Do you know if one stops/ departs near Marriott?

Call me blind but try as I may I can't find a link to the walking tour so generously offered by Danish viking for cruiznuts.

Is there a google map for all the highlights?

As far as I know they don't take reservations on the canal tour boat unless you book the whole boat, but I have never seen a sold out boat.

And yes I think its Stromma that has a stop behind Marriott.

A taxi to Oceankaj is probably around 200-250 kroner.

Is there a google map for all the highlights?

The map a made was after his/hers suggestions so it miss out on some interesting places like The round tower, Strøget pedestrian street, Christiansborg castle, City Hall with the tower, nations museum, Glyptoteket and finally Tivoli.

I can try to make a map that covers most things if you want to.

Thanks Danish Viking, that decides it, will definitely go to Malmo instead of Dragor on our second day. From an earlier search I know there is a family ticket we can buy, since it'll be Sunday the trains will also not be crowded.

Does it still make sense to buy the Citypass, we probably won't be using public transport very much. Thanks again, Prish

Sorry I missed that one. :o

If you take bus 27 or the cruise shuttle to Østerport station and then take bus 26 from Ålholm Plads you can get off at Vesterbros Torv.

http://www.moviatrafik.dk/Timetable%20Resources/26-0026-260415.pdf

The cruise shuttle doesn´t have a fixed schedule but starts to run at 08:00 from Østerport so expect the first bus to run from your terminal 10-15 minutes later.

Thank you very much for your help, Danish viking!

About Bakken: how far is it from Copenhagen center, and how rough is that wooden rollercoaster?

Its 17 kilometers north of Copenhagen measured from Rådhuspladsen (town hall square)

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/R%C3%A5dhuspladsen,+1599+K%C3%B8benhavn/Bakken,+Dyrehavevej,+Klampenborg/@55.7253085,12.4516551,12z/data=!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x4652530dfbdd1e99:0x2717b01caaedfd10!2m2!1d12.569128!2d55.675914!1m5!1m1!1s0x46524db1af076143:0x5b968cd4a492cce8!2m2!1d12.577771!2d55.775221

The nearest train station is Klampenborg

S-train Line C towards Klampenborg takes 20 minutes and runs every 10th minute. at 09, 19, 29, 39, 49 and 59 past the hour

They departs from track 9 and 10.

Øresundstog towards Nivå takes 17 minutes and runs every 20th minute, its 01, 21 and 41 past the hour

In the weekends its 18, 38 and 58 past the hour

They departs from track 1 to 4.

You´ll need a 4 zone ticket that cost 48 kroner.

Kids 12-15 years old only pays 24 kroner and 2 childrens 0-11 travels for free with one adult.

If you however have a car it cost 60 kroner to park.

I´m terrified of the rollercoaster but I´m also a chicken when it comes to these things. :D
