nomoreknothead Posted December 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Have you had better luck getting a table for 2 by calling ahead or by seeing the maitre d after we board ? We have always sat at a large table but this trip we are going to be enjoying a few nights in the specialty restuarants and don't want to interfer with others dining. George C Posted December 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I would call ASAP, if you cannot get it or do not like location I would then contact maitre d.
Rare Lionesss Posted December 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Upon boarding I would just go to the MDR and speak to the Maitre D, and forsee no problems with your request. Enjoy your cruise Sea Ya
lakings39 Posted December 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2014 As George said, just call ahead and ask for a 2 person table. Then, once you are on board head down to the dining room and find your table, if for some reason it's not a 2 top then speak with the maitre d and they should be able to accomodate your request. I always ask for a 2 person table ahead of time and that has never failed.
Starry Eyes Posted December 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2014 If you think about it, no matter what size table in traditional dining, you are apt to impact some other diner. As you know if you assigned a table with other guests, your seats at that table will be empty when you are in the specialty dining room. It will be interesting to hear what others thnk, but personally, even if you are dining some nights in specialty restaurants, you can still be assigned to a large table in the MDR if you enjoy large tables. Just tell your table mates which nights you'll be dining elsewhere so they know they do need to wait for you. presumably they will still enjoy their meals in your absence. There are relatively few tables for two in the traditional section of the MDR, so in all liklihood, if you are assigned one, somebody who really wanted a table for two. and those who coveting a table for two will see your assigned table sit empty when you are in the MDR. So, even with a table for two you impact somebody in traditional dining; you may impact somebody even more. If you are going to be in specialty dining most nights and wish to minimize your impact on others, you might consider MTD. That is the least impact on others (unless of course MTD fills and somebody can't get in MTD who wants it...gosh, if it hard to avoid impacting others isn't it!) If you want a table for two because you really, really want a table for two, try emailing dining department a couple weeks before your cruise. gms5002 Posted December 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2014 We did MTD on our last cruise because we wanted to make sure we got a table for 2. No problems with it at all, there were plenty of 2 tops available up there. I'd make a standing reservation for the same time every night and then cancel the ones you don't need when you decided when you're going to the specialty restaurants.
